Ronin, 187 is not 6'4". 187 cm is just under 6'2". What site are you using? Cause it is clearly not reliable. 6'4" is about 194cm.

Anyways, I'm 179cm (5'11").

Don Corleone

Maybe there should be poll or King Henry V can update the fist post, because the info needs to be collated so that it makes sense.

Craterus
06-03-2005, 21:35
The poll: Metric or Imperial units?

The_Doctor
06-03-2005, 21:38
Metric, because it makes more sense.

Craterus
06-03-2005, 21:40
Imperial is easier for comparison. But the sections would be easier using metric.

I don't find that very offensive. I'd hate working in a completely asexual, sterile environment. (No, that doesn't mean I'm the female therapist at the Christmas office party that puts on a show. That's Suzy.)

A stone is 14 pounds.
A pound is 16 ounces.

According to my weights:
2.5 pounds = 1.1 kilograms
5 pounds = 2.3 kilograms
10 pounds = 4.5 kilograms.

6' is tall, 6" is short. " means inches and ' means feet. Therefore everyone in the really short club is under half a foot tall.

I see, thanks for the explanation, it can prevent embarrassing situations ~D Still, I share The Wizard's opinion. Perhaps the inch and foot system was useful in 1500 AD but it's no longer pertinent.

The English system is horrible (I believe that is what it is called.). The metric system is far superior...

I know my height in feet because my parents are both 5'8" and I am 2-4 inches taller than them.

Ja'chyra

5'4" and I think I'm shrinking.

Duke Malcolm

Metric is for schools, Imperial is for measurements of the body, gold, meat, and everything else... Imperial stimulates the mind, because there is more arithmetic required (12 inches = 1 foot, 3 feet = 1 yard, 1760 yards = 1 mile, not 1000mm = 1m)

I am 5' 11", and growing...

Uesugi Kenshin
06-04-2005, 23:19
Metric is far more accurate and there is no reason why it couldn't be used for everything. Because you do not use fractions with the metric system it is much easier to do measurements.

exactly, so it decays the minds of those taught to use it, whereas Imperial stimulates the mind.

But couldn't you stimulate the minds of the students with other things such as the material for which they need the metric system?

Most people I know use the Imperial system and trust me it stimulating their minds does not help them....
