Does it matter? I've never really noticed it...
That is strange though...

They're not always on a hill. Segesta isn't on a hill.

Segesta's on a hillock. Maybe the villagers couldn't afford a full-sized hill! ~D

Historically, people discovered that unnice barbarian horde people can't jump and/or fly 2 stories under normal non-trebuchet related circumstances so therefore have to climb. Climbing up a wall usually means siege ladders. Siege ladders need a good footing. The angle of a high hill is not condusive to heavy loads IE 10 guys on a siege ladder or people in armor.
Also, It is easier to go from C to D(refer to diagram below) than it is to go from B to A.
A``````````
`\``````````
``B```C __ D
This is because of something I'd like to call the force of downness which pulls things inexplicably in this direction(diagram below).

Think for a moment. I am seeking a defensible position. I want to be on a hill. What a leap of logic this is.
well appearantly like you said dgb they are on a hill maybe for defensive position. However, there is also another theory that apply to this. Maybe town and city are build on hill is to prevent natural disastor? ~
Anyway off topic: don't answer to his question anymore, he keep on creating new thread for everyone of his question without even think for himself first.

Doubt it. All of the theory I have eve read regarding positioning of settlements (and I have read a lot, doing a degree in urban geography) says that it's down to defensive position among other non-natural disaster things. Sure in flood prone areas maybe, but in general I don't think that entered the equation.

Good god..here we go again... :dizzy2:
As clayton's question has been answerd, i think that a mod should close this before it becomes another debate on if he is spaming or not.

Yet another relevant question from Clayton that really need answering. ~
Does this affect the gameplay in even the minutest way? NO...
Can't the Mods delete these pointless posts as they appear?

Congratulations Clayton. Warning level 4 now mate. Keep up the good work. Shouldn't be long before the suspention kicks in?
BTW, how many warning levels are there? Do they just accumulate and go towards a ladder type competition, and if so, whats the prize?
Check Watchtower for info on that topic , there is a thread about banning BP.
