how do i play the other factions?

im very new to RTW and are just wondering how you play the other factions that are not romans. do i have to complete a campaign or something like that.

and are there any good mods to RTW?

After completing the Prologue you can choose a short or long campign in the Imperial Campign mode. The short one gives you some certain objectives like destroy or outlast this and that faction. In the long campaign you need to hold 50 provinces and capture Rome to win.
When ot comes to mods I´ve played them all and my personal favourite is RTR. Their version 6.0 is soon to be released. I also recommend you to ckeck out EB which looks awsome to me. Good luck!

Or, you could just download this mod once you can play Imperial Campaigns: All fractions mod! (http://www.twcenter.net/downloads/db/?mod=75) It will let you play every faction (apart from rebels), even SPQR, which is mean to be unplayable.

P.S There is no point in playing SPQR You cant win ! Lol Oh well nice to have them anyway.

EB isn't finished yet, but visit the hosted mods forums and you should find all the info yu need.
