end of turn lock up on campaign map

Ever since I have installed 1.2 patch RTW simply freezes / locks up upon pressing "end turn" button on campaign map,usually after 8-10 turn.If I'm quick enough I can normally exit by pressing ctrl-alt-del and terminate game in Task Manager but if I leave it waiting , my whole PC gets locked.At first i thought that problem was in various modded campaigns but same thing happens on normal "vanilla" Imperial Campaign.

I have been trying in vain to solved this problem for at least 3 months.I went through everything including flashing BIOS, buying new graphic card (Radion 9600 XT) and clean installation of Windows.There are no hardware conflicts and temperature inside my PC seem to suggest there is no overheating.I can play without any problems other games (HL2,Imperial Glory,NHL 20005).Next possible step is new hard drive and motherboard but before that I would welcome any suggestions to solve this problem.

Have you tried turning off sound acceleration before playing? Also, I assume your machine passes the Prime95 torture tests without any problems.

I recently had increasing trouble with my system and finally ditched my old ASUS motherboard for an Abit NF7-S. I ruled out everything but the motherboard, so that is what I finally resorted to replacing. Haven't had a single problem since (knocks on silicon.)

I managed to crl-del before my PC got locked up again and take screenshot.
~e5.0001 file in Temporary files folder seem to be running along with RTW.Once process is terminated RTW exits

This same problem happened to me everytime i ended a turn on 263 BC it crashed. All i did is unistalled the game then install it back on with OUT the patch. Now it runs fine. The patch isnt really that important if you are playing a campaign game. Make sure you do NOT install the patch and it will be fine.

I'm beginning to think that problem of lock ups might be also down to adding money,units or characters to factions in descr_stat
