heh heh nice bridge massacre there! As for the Brutii v Gauls battle, I think I've fought in a very similar location, where it was the enemy who occupied the high ground. Stunningly, they just sat there and watched as I moved my entire army to the other side of the map, marched them up the hill, waited for 5 minutes or so while they took a breather and then attacked them. The enemy just watched this happen, twiddling their tumbs. Cretins!
By the way, what is that mod you are using which extends the map without altering the units and nations? Looks good.
That was on the Danube too! Serves the barbarians right.
The mod is the Mundus Magnus map.
I love it. RTR didnt work for me, it kept crashing. This one is fine.
And yes, i think the location you are referring to is a very steep position north over the Alps, just east of a town. (ive forgotten its name).
Tell the soldiers not to look into the camera like that guy in the third frame. It ruins the "realism" of the battle scenes! ~:)
lol.
*slaps soldier responsible* (even though he is noble). :)

I'm impressed in your bridge battle that you did not lose a man. Even to friendly fire. Sometimes my archers like to hit their buddy up front in the butt. At least that has been my experience. Not nearly so bad with the patches but still, I think it is funny.

Dude if you dont mind can you post the link to get that MOD. I've had similar Hill Battles but not as easily owned as this guy made it look.

Hill battles are ridiculous when the AI is attacker. One time I was playing Seleucids, fighting against Scipii legions in Sicily. Their last settlement there was Lilybaeum and it was left defended only by a general's unit, so I sent a tiny army of 2 cataphracts (both units severely reduced, totalling ~ single full strength unit, I couldn't retrain them yet), merc peltasts, a reduced phalanx unit and slingers. They get close to the city but the next turn two Scipii armies (one full stack, the other one like 9 units) land on the island from ships. One of them attacks my army, so I retreat (end up sitting on the nearest mountain). Then the smaller Scipii army attacks, I'm forced to fight to the death. To my surprise, I rout them easily, although I suffer some losses.
Then right after my victory, the FULL stack army attacks! And get this: they all run uphill toward my units, their cavalry comes first and my cats rout them. Then their infantry line (which covered almost the entire width of the map!) finally reaches my units but they are exhausted. Their general charges and somehow, although I had only ONE phalanx unit, he decides to choose the pikes as his target... :dizzy: My little cataphracts rout the roman left and right sides and their center gets confused and breaks formation. Couple more showers of javelins and sling bullets, my cats charging them and they all turn to run away!
Granted, it was a very steep hill on that map and my peltasts could rain several volleys of javelins to the advancing romans before melee, but it was still a fight I should have had no chance to win.
