I just finished installing the latest version of the RTR mod. I am trying out a couple of custom battles first, just to familiarize myself with everything, and then I will be starting a campaign with a barbarian faction. I'll let ya know how things go.

In the past though, I have proven to be quite good at this game...

Currently playing as Macedon.

I have adopted a don't-attack-unless-you-are-attacked strategy. But when I'm attacked, I will punish the attackers. I'm about to destroy Brutii because they tried to eliminate the Hellenic race (my Greek allies and myself). So, I pushed them off the Aegean and sailed over to Italy.

I rate myself 6/10 (battles) and 6/10 (campaign). Playing multiplayer has showed me that there are a load of better players out there.

I have only completed the short campaign with the Julii and just started with the Bruttii. Although, I don't have experience with the others, I admit I bought the game in order to play the Romans.

Have been playing for 2+ weeks, so you can about guess where my skills are: I'd say that I am a confident, charismatic and super capable......3. ~

Well if you don't play aginst humans you can never really tell how good you are. Like in MTW I thought I was hot stuff. Went online for the first time and was lucky to escape alive.

You don't know how good you are until you've played something smart enough to know that trying to break your spear wall by impaling enough men on a pike so it can't be lifted is not an economical strategy.

Besides, didn't you lose 200 of the world's finest heavy infantry to 10-100 barbarians wearing nothing but tight pants Mr. 9?

10 times! That's it!

You can't give yourself a 9/10 in RTW if you have only played against other people only around 10 times. That's like beating the campaign in Starcraft and saying your the best there is. Play multi player several more times and just see how good you are compared to the best. The AI is dumb enough that you don't really even need strategy unless you are severly outnumbered. Playing against other people is an entirely different experience. Roughly even forces fighting each other, both with different stratagies makes for a very unique gaming experience. The people there are smart. I thought that I was a genius at stratagy and RTW until I played online for a while. There are people who can beat any army you can come up with. Playing against an opponent who thinks and reacts is much more of a challange than the AI who just charge at you in a strait line.

All I am saying is that to be even close to a 9/10 you have to be excellent in both multi player and the campaign.

Play online for a while, maybe it will force you to open your eyes and see that you are not the best out there.

As for staying on topic, none of your threads ever do. If you want a thread to stay on topic you need to have more content and information (and use spell check)

I really should take back what I said, seeing how off topic I threw it.

*The Starcraft AI was pretty fun with it's irrational rushing of many many things*

When I get it, I'll play each of the Roman factions and then play Macedon after modding out the jumping horse bug. Then if Sengoku Jidai is out, I'l DL it and play the campaign, if not, I'll play RTR.

Easy now. Just a friendly reminder from a passing AM to keep civil. Just don't want to see this thread spiral down in flames as it seems it could easily do so.

thank you for your time

I dislike the him as much as anyone else, but insulting him won't help. Sorry to spoil your fun because God knows I would love to take some shots myself...but...

Anyway, I like multiplayer, but I just prefer having a context. I do not lose to the AI...but then...I am never put in a place where I have to win with a vastly inferior force. I think I am great at what I do (and you can tell the Ptolemaics that too!). But overall...I would love to find out ~:)

I think that monk means to say...

STOP FLAMING CLAYTON

:tongue2:

Any way...in single player i would be 10/10 (like all RTW players, LOL.) MP maybe a 4/10 :embarassed:

playing as Seleucids-Egyptians, Parthians, Pontus, Armenia, Greek Cities (in that order)currently going after all of the non-senate Romans, own all of Asia Minor, former Ptolemaiad lands , former Thracian lands (wiped out by the Brutii, i think ), all islands east of Crete (inclusive)

Currently playing the Gauls and only the Egyptians stand in the way of victory. I give myself a 9 because I feel I use a solid strategy.

Aye, but that's against the AI  If you can crush the AI in this game, you're a 4/10 in MP.

i would give myself a 5/10 based on the fact that i always beat the AI(Who doesn't?LOL.) And i have won one out of two MP games with the CTW mod.*

I would say I am a 8 at singleplayer. I have lost a few battles and a general or two but that was only at the start before I knew what I was doing.

Playing as Julii: conquered Gual, Spain, Carthage, Germania, Britons, Dacia, and now working on Scythia. The civil war is coming pretty soon so SPQR will probably be next.

That's it so far. Just got the game this summer.

For multiplayer I'm probably a 3 or 4 because I've never played it.

Currently playing Greeks, Romans, Macedonians and Carthaginians are dead. The powerful Greek Hoplites are too much for the AI.

I don't play multiplayer, but I comprehensively beat the AI at hard levels. So I guess that I will give myself 8/10 in campaign and 4/10 in battles.

RTR 5.41 as Romas I totally annihiliated the Greeks in the first 10 years (with the help of Macedonia of course) but sadly I had to reformat my drive.

Now second time playing , the Greeks somewhow allied with Macedonian in in my 20th year I still cannot secure Italian peninsular totally. Gauls to the north and Greeks keep sending reinforcement to their last city in south italy.

Scale ? 1/10 on battle but strategy i give my self 7 or 8/10
