Here I go again... I ask for your advice what to do: after restoring system, I've reinstalled RTW and wanted to upgrade it to 1.2 (that's a must, if you want to play mods like RTR), but when installation is just about to begin the window pops up: "Your installation of RTW has already been updated to version 1.2. The patch cannot be reinstalled". Yet I haven't upgraded RTW (in game options it's Version 1.0) Damn, I'm really frustrated :furious3:
Any ideas what should I do? :help:

oof, i had that too. what to do is download the zipfile of the patch on the homepage of .org and then unzip the file and copy and paste the maps
It's interesting that the RTW v1.2 update can only be installed once, and that there is no way to fix even basic bugs such as this under the current way they do business. This doesn't bode well for the BI expansion.

i dont know if it does, but i think that it reads it as its installed when you reinstall the game. maybe when you totally remove the game and then install it, the patch can be installed again

Well I actually removed RTW completely then installed it, but yet the patch installer says I've already have v1.2, which I do not really. Seems like patch installer exe can be loaded only once.
I'll try to download that zip, thanks for the tip ~

no thanx mate
i had the same problem for awhile. What u need to do is, go into your files and not only delete the Rtw\activision folder, but u must also remove the install wizard folder or anything that has to do with your installation programs. Cuz if u look in there u will see a file of the patch. That should work, it worked for me .

don't they give you instruction at totalwar.com ?
Nope, don't count on support.
Go clean out thy registry.
type regedit at the run prompt.
Then search for all instance of "total war" and kill em.
worked for me
