:help: hi there folks,
first of all i'm a total n00b concerning modding but i wanna change that!
i looked around here to find a solution for my prob but i wasn't successful.
well here's my problem:
i installed the vercingetorix 3d studio maxscript for import/exporting .cas files properly. i can load all model files correctly, but i can't get the right textures... where are the fitting ones, in which way are they aligned to the models. i just want to change some textures presently could you help me?

well finally i found my textures after extracting them with xpax but im still not shure in which way they are attached to the models in 3d studio max...

look in descr_model_battle.txt in Data.

Just to clarify a liitle!
The actual texture a model uses is described iun descr_model_battle.txt
This file also has the definition of which model to use when displaying the unit. The game does it this way so you can actually define a different texture to the same model if you use it for another faction. For example.... in my Hyborean mod, I have made a set of militia and peasants for the Asgard forces. Their neighbours the Vanir are pretty much the same, except the easir were blond haired, and hte vsanir red haired. Hperborea had some similarities, but they were 'dark'. So...rather than have a fixed 'this texture goes on this model' I can use the same model with different paint-jobs.
Sometimes, though, you have to be a bit more careful. Units like the wardogs have to have the texture properly assigned in Max, with the material in it';s correct location.
well that helped already a lot and thx for postin' but my real problem is a more specific one now: i get the model data properly loaded in 3stmax ...
but there are no textures attached in any way. the only modificators shown are the editable polys and "skin" so how do i texture that model ... with uvw maps or what??? (i hope i finally get that working, the barbarian factions are still freezing to death without clothing...)

If you've extracted the textures from the paks, it should load the texture from the model, but if it isn't displayed, then click on the material editor. The first one there should be your units texture. Underneath this, there should be like a blue and white cube icon. Click that and it should be displayed. If you want to edit the texture then yes you should use uvw maps.
