Having recently bought Sim City 4, i can't play it, and guess why? Because apparently quality control at the factory the CD's are made is so bad, they let discs be sent out with little red spots on them. My copy of Disk 1 has a red spot on it, which means that installation reaches about 23-26% and then stops, because it can't read anything else. Talk about a bitch. And guess what this red spot is? It's the paint from Disc 1, which is also red. You'd think they'd have some quality control to make sure this doesn't happen. I can't send it back to the shop though, because my attempts to clean it have made it look even worse. Utter crap i tell you...

I get very angry when games don't work, but in your case not been able to take it back i would turn green like the hulk and destroy the disk to get some fun out of the game.

I'm going to try and install it a few more times, and if it doesn't work, i'll throw it out the window and order another copy off Amazon.

[It won't work and I'm more than a little upset! Gah!]
EDIT: I can understand and sympathise with venting, but not when it's one of those nice rants which has the BBC bleeping every third word.

Eheheh...i got it to finally work...with a little persausion of course, from my foot and some heavy objects.
Mikeus Caesar's guide to getting computers to work
Kick very hard, and then hit repeatedly with heavy objects. Rinse and repeat. If this doesn't work, throw offending product at nearest wall, or even better, window.

I am now very happy with it, because over a year i borrowed this game off a friend, and made quite alot of good cities with it. It would appear these cities (i saved them in a file somewhere) still work, even with a completely different CD key. Well, at least that's one good feature.

Aw no....one bad thing after another...there i was, happily demolishing Elementary Schools and much needed Hospitals to make way for a new Motorway when suddenly...nothing. All the power turned off, because for some reason one of the power switches in the Fuse box decided it would have a bit of fun, and turn itself off. So now, i have to destroy all the schools and hospitals again...mwahahaha!! :sneaky:

How did you get a Warnings Level: 5? :laugh4:
i hate hospitals and schools, because they always mess up your redevelopment, i think i might turn this block of low density residential into commercial, and theres the stinking hospital, it won't fit in a square space and is not quite big enough not to cover the row of blocks that are now behind it.
damn hospitals.
i prefer ground highways to elevated, they seem more simplistic and easier to coordinate.
thanks,
dizzy
