The thing about being a super hero is most of the powers are not that much use in real life are they? I mean, not only is anyone with an RPG more or less as powerful as Cyclops anyway, but not being able to look at stuff without blowing it up is pretty inconvenient. And as for Rogue...
So, the question is, taking the X men to give a good cross section of powers, which would you most want IN DAILY LIFE? And why?
Personally I wouldn't want anything to do with reading minds, I'd rather not know. And although the regeneration and unbreakable bones thing would be extremely cool when it came to biking, (well, more exactly, when it came to crashing), I have to admit I don't really have much use for adamantium claws.
No, its a sign of my age no doubt but the power that would make me happiest would be Storm's. Waddaya know, its another nice sunny day...

I would have to have Magneto's power, been able to move metal objects around would be cool, and most people i talk to think Wolverine is unbeatable but Magneto could have him anyday.

Of course Magneto could beat him, he could rip Wolverine's claws out of his hands stab him with them...
I would go for the ability to move metal.. No idea why, just seems to be the most useful.

Mind control... minus the whole wheelchair-bound thingy. Plus telekinesis.

I would go with Jean Grey's powers.
Telekenisis and some mind control ~ ~

Morph being able to change into other characters was a good power to have. I liked Juggernaut for pure agression and power. My fav X-man though was probably Gambit. Explodable Cards and that staff of his would come handy for me in rough and hellhole like pubs in Salford ~D
got to go with wolverine....
as for the magneto thing....magneto almost killed wolverine once...while wolverine did kill magneto once ~D ...gutted him like a fish. :charge:

Night Crawler's Powers, being pretty much uncatcheable because you teleport yourself very quickly. I'd become some sort of Bank Robber or Secret Agent that way I could make loads of money and be relatively invisible (not invincible) because when it comes to fighting and guns Night Crawler tends to be kind of a wuss. Imagine Wall Clipping Cheats in FPS come to life.
Wolverine's regen ability. Be able to drink as much as I want, and not have to worry about hangovers or injuring/killing myself in the process! ~D

Gambit's energised cards ability. The man can throw ENERGISED CARDS! ENERGISED CARDS! It's just the coolest power imaginable.
I look at the powers in a utiliatarian way-which is the best, without drawback. I mean, while Rogue's whole drain life thing is cool, not being able to touch people is not a viable trade off. Beast is, well, a beast, which can be inconvenient. Wolverine is just plain boring-I'm sorry, but he is. Storm's power isn't very useful inside, and Cyclops has to wear a big visor. Whereas Gambit's power has no drawbacks at all, and you get to shout about how Cajun you are all the time, beat everyone at poker and wear a trenchcoat.

Did Jean Grey/Phenix have any disadvantages, besides being an alien clone (or whatever) ?
I'd go for that then.
If the answers are limited to the X-Men proper, I'd go with Morph. If they're not, being Mr. Sinister would rule.

Well, Pheonix turned into a crazy bitch several times and tried to kill the people she loved the most...that's kind of a drawback. ~;)
Anyway, i'd quite like Nightcrawler's teleportation.

meh. Im crazy anyway.
Almost all of them have drawbacks.
Nightcrawler - teleport is cool but you look like a blue cat
Beast - strange blue thing
Gambit - cool power but can energise anything.
Cyclops - well, you won't be able to see much.
Prof. X - um wheelchair.
Magneto - no real drawback but plastic prison alert. ~;)
wolverine - can pretty much live forever and has claws! weakness against magneto
The Russian guy that could turn his skin into steel layer was very cool though. What was his name?

Teleportation. If I could just teleport..... Basically unstoppable if used correctly, especially if the only range is how far you can see.

Colossus.
Sunfire, he had that white hot plasma stuff and some badass samurai/ninja moves.

Magneto pawns them all.
Only one that can get on Magneto is of course the good ol’ captain, his powers being also very attractive.
I think I would go with Magneto. The man can morph metal to his desires! The scene with him breaking out of that plastic prison, w000t!111!!! ~D

Can't believe i didn't think of this before, but i'd rather be ArchAngel. I did some digging around at uncannyxmen.net, and here's a list of his powers:
aerodynamic physiology gives him peak human strength, speed, aerial agility, endurance, reflexes, eyesight, and hearing, a hollow bone structure, zero body fat, and large feathered wings extending from his shoulder blades that enable him to fly and serve as solar collectors to heat his body, and a healing effect in his blood that increases his regenerative abilities and those of anyone else it touches, formerly had biometallic retractable wings that fired paralysis fluid-filled wing fletchettes, and once could generate solid light from his own supercharged lifeforce into energy wings, life-energy darts that caused a metaphysical disruption in others, healing powers that affected the mind and body, and the ability to extend his fingers into raking talons ~
What is it with winged super heroes. They always change their powers till they are so conveluted and illogical it frightening. Also who ever said Morph has made my revenge list. He is a travesty, a character created solely for the cartoon show just to give wolverine a buddy character because they left out Nightcrawler. But the x-characters powers who i might be fun to have would be Proteus. Not the lame-o angry kid from the cartoon but the near god that he was based on. Reality was putty in his hands he could do litterally anything. He was so powerful he destroyed his body (but he didn't die).
Gambit was always my favorite. The was the pimp of the X-men.

He wasn't created solely for the cartoon; there was a comic book version of Morph, but he didn't look anything like he did in the cartoon. He had white skin, no hair, and wore a cape.
Oh, come on, didn't you ever play Overpower? ~D
That is AOA universe he was never carried over into 616 (the number of the regular marvel universe), so he doesn't count. You really have to be carful with alternate realities, there are so friggin many of them.
Overpower, overpower, that was that craptacular marvel battle card game from fleer right? I've never played card games like that. I played 1 count it 1 game of Magic the gathering in high school and I was hand held threw it.
