Anyone else try this? I find that 9/10's of the issues I have with the game are out the window when I play the game this way...

THIS is what RTW vanilla 1.0 should have started as...why it didn't is beyond me (how modders with zero funds outdo CA over and over baffles me)

I haven't really seen an episode of the load game/seige bug like this yet either...

There's about 2 million topics about this in this forum, look through a couple ones if you want too. There's even one stickied at the top of this forum.

Sorry...didn't realize there were numerous topics on this, although I don't even see one, and there isn't one stickied at the top...i just looked through all of them. ~

RTR does not solve all of the problems...play for a little longer; you will see what i am talking about... ~:handball:

oh yeah, i mean I'm sure it doesn't solve ALL problems but it does in fact make the game considerably better than vanilla 1.2 and RTR 6.0 is due out in the next month or so.

any mods that you would say are better than RTR ...how is Darthmod?

The mods are many times better then vanilla. i played vanilla for two weeks; the mods for over five months.

DM is the most recent; i would go with that. It's pretty good, actually.

(how modders with zero funds outdo CA over and over baffles me)

Possibly because the modders didn't have to create/modify the exgine itself, program all the new features such as the campaign map into the game, etc, etc?

well...at this point I simply cannot state that CA does a "good" job. Horrible customer service, some of the worst AI in the genre, a digressing in the franchise with every new release, and a refusal to patch the game until it's completion.

Yeah...kudos to them for building the engine...the graphics and concept are the best in the biz...problem is that these things get overshadowed by the above reasons.

I do think that if the modders had the same funds and started from scratch, many of them would outdo CA's effort.

It's not just me either...this has been expressed by many fans of the series.

You do not know the true power of the darth mod...

There are a few RTR topics in this forum, but they tend to be 'Where do I get it?' or 'I've got this problem with it'. There certainly isn't a stickied topic about so I don't know what he's referring to.

So, I think there's some scope available for discussion of the various merits of different mods and favourable experiences people have had with them. Go ahead. :rtwyes:

Hmmm... when I said there was scope for discussion of various mods I thought it was implicit that I was referring to RTW mods and not unnatural internet programmes that dabble in the dark arts. Let's put this thread back on topic, shall we?

RTR, Emperor Campaigns, Praetorian Battles...

Who's played them? What do you think of them?

Try Roma mod to RTR... Specifically designed to make the game of a roman player more enjoyable.. and HARD...

note, many of Roma features are apparently making it into the RTR version 6.0...

I'm currently playing that. Just don't like Roman generals no longer on horseback. Well I believe a general should always be on horseback.

Playing that and adding the skymod.. Luckily it works.. Add the RTR custom mode but don't like the fact that there's no senate anymore.
