View Full Version : Princes' loyalty
Seeing as "you may not attempt to bribe heirs", what's the point of a prince having a loyalty stat?

Civil War. The game will make a unworthy heir into an opposing leader before it makes a competitent general.
Also when the king dies and the new one gets heirs they cease to be of the family line (ie dont have a crown). Then the loyalty becomes a more serious issue. :(
Ah, of course...
Thanks guys. I keep forgetting about that aspect of the game since, in my 8 campaigns, I've had extremely virile kings...
This is something I should keep in mind for my current campaign, as my obese, chinless, alcoholic 48 year old English king only has 5 daughters to his name...

Sounds like the game has screwed you. If your king has any brothers then I'd advise killing him, otherwise all you can do is sit and twitch, waiting for your royal line to die out. Worst way to lose, only happened to me once.

Nah... You don't have to wait to die. Get your best generals, strip them of all titles. Send your king to an island and cut the boat connection or on a crusade. Save up alot of money and hope for civil war.
When it does, side with the rebels and bribe the empire back. New King, new line.
I took your advice, Monkeyman, and it worked. Thanks.
Now I have a brilliant king who isn't even of the Plantagenet line. He has produced three healthy boys already.
I'm not sure whether it helped, but I launched a failed crusade as well, while Captain Loser was still in charge..
