Well, tommorow I leave for Germany, as you all know. I won't be on for the next month or so. Keep this thread alive so I can post my pics and other assorted crap when I get back. I'll be sure to get some good photos of the interesting places I'll be going (Strassborg, Munich, Dachau, Heidelburg, Switzerland...)
Anyway, I'll finish up some posting for today, then it's no more capo for a month.
JAG, Goofball, and BP please, restrain yourselfs from celebrating untill tommorow. Thanks.

Oh, and any tips on getting through Airport security as painless as possible? I was thinking that I'll just wear jeans and a white tshirt and my boots, and the only thing not in my luggage or carry on would be my passport.

Well, I would advise that you don't make any jokes at security, tempting as it amy be-they really don't have a sense of humour about those things. A friend of mine's father, getting rather ticked off with the security procedures when he took a flight, responded to the standard 'who packed these bags?' with a sarcastic 'Oh, I got some middle eastern guy to do it'. Sounds funny, but he wasn't laughing so hard when they refused to let him on the 'plane.

lol, I don't plan on saying s#17 unless they feel me up if they decide to frisk me, then it's "Whoa, wait a minute. I got no qualms about suing you for sexual harassment buddy." And the thing is, I would.

Don't wear a metal belt buckle. I did and the alarm went off. I had to remove my belt. Then I got frisked by some huge black guy. Then they searched my backpack. Then my jeans nearly fell down, because of a lack of belt. :dizzy2:

Bring a little baggage with you in the plane. IF you don't they'll search to make sure you're not a terrorist. Oh and it helps if you don't have a beard, and look like arabic.

Kaiser of Arabia

hrm the only belt buckles I own are steel and brass, I'll go with the brass one to be safe. I'm keeping my wallet, my watch (Esq swiss, it is NOT coming off so some airport security guard can lose his life trying to get it *i'm very terretorial*), my books (2nd Trestise on Government, Panzer Leader, and On War), my CD player and CDs, and my food in my carry on and once i'm through security the wallet goes in the pocket with nessissary chain attachment, the watch goes on, and i'm set. I hope i don't have to take off my jewelry (14k Gold Necklace and bracelt, not much but it's important to me). All and all, everything should be fine. I hope. But 13hrs on a plane, bloody hell. It's NOT going to be a fun trip. At least I get to have a few of mi paisani with me (it's a student exchange program with one of the best teachers ever chaparoining, he said just don't get too drunk and we'll be fine, score!) so it won't be that bad. I just hope the in flight movie is good.
In the mean time I'm sick as hell (ate way too much today) and I think I have an ear infection, so I'm bringing mild painkillers and dayquil in my carry on. I don't think it much matters.
It's gonna be great, guys. Thanks for all your advice, and don't get into any heated debates untill I get back ~;). If I can, I'll be sure to check in once a week or so, but I don't know if I can. And, when I get back, I'll jump right back here (after considerable partying with my friends ~D) and give you guys some interesting stories.
Thanks guys, you've been a great help. And ColdNight, your plan shall be reality!
Cya guys around, ciao, gut nacht, etc etc etc.

Well tomorrow I am leaving for the fiar city of Vienna for a month of exquisite cakes, fine food and fruit wines! (There's also culture). After there's a week in Hungary with perhaps a visit to Budapest. The only downside is that it takes 13 hours to go from the western end of Switzerland to the eastern end of Austria by train. Oh joy. So it's goodbye for a month because I don't have a laptop, allthough I will go to an internet cafe from time to time.
Bye. ~

hey! it#s kaiser checking in from Germany! I gotta get used to the keyboards here and all, but it's been really fun so far. After a 8 and a half hour plane ride, we took a bus on the autobahn to Landau, where we met up with our host families. Clegane, I didn't see your "red pagoda"! Airport security out of American wasn't that bad, and coming in I don't remember any security whatsoever. We leave for Munich on Wendsday. I'm really enjoying myself (although this keyboard is taking some getting used to, and the flight gave me the worst headache I've had in ages). I'll keep you updated

Grüßgott Wien!
Having done the gruelling 14 hour train journey (delayed by an hour), I have finnally arrived in Vienna and a t my grandparents' house. And guess what, it's raining! So now I'm going to do what I do every time I go to my see my grandparents. Watch their unending collection of WW2 films and documentaries. I just watched "Hitler: the Rise of Evil" (in German) and now its time to watch all 16 hours of a television series "The Winds of War". I've seen it so many times that I can practically recite the dialogue. And there's still a month to go!

I've only been to Germany once (and quite by accident) On a Flight to Vienna the plane had re-route from Rome to Frankfurt because of a delay on the Runway. So I was trapped in Frankfurt for 4 Hours before having to switch to another plane that took me to Berlin for another 4 hours (Although I was happy that I got to travel around Berlin really quickly and I got a few photos of the Brandenburg Gate Site. And then From Berlin I was finally in Vienna... I spent a total of 8 hours in Germany and I thought it was really cool and I want to visit again and not by accident. However, Vienna was a blast.

I'm checking in again. I went to München, amazing beer, and I hit on the waitress (left a tip that was more than the bill lol). So far I have been bombarded with the hotness of the women here. You Deutscheren are lucky bastards! lol. I'm having a great time though, these people are amazing (both the family I'm staying with and the German people in General). I mean, at home, people say I'm a pig for eating as much as I do. Here, they tell me I don't eat enough!
BTW Clegane are you in Frankfurt or Frankfurt am Main? If so, we're only like an hour away from each other! lol you poor, poor man.
We also went across the french border to see a cathederal in wissemsburg or somthing along those lines. Had fun. The French scare me lol.
Anyways I'll drop in another week or so.

It's Frankfurt am Main, although if you just say Frankfurt most people would think that you refer to Frankfurt aM - if you refer to Frankfurt an der Oder it's better to give the full name (at least in the Western part of Germany)

I mean, soda, beer, and meat 24-7! Even the Italian food is overflowing with meat! I love it!
Went to Heidleburg last wendsday. That was really fun. Ate at some turkish pizzaria. Was surprisingly good. I wish I had money to get a dönerkebab.
I'll be in touch. By the way I have in the neighborhood of 80 pictures and I will get more (probably double that). This week we go to Straßburg and I beleive Speyer, and the Zoo that is RIGHT BEHIND THE SCHOOL! Gonna be much fun.

Yeah, it was good. All those "Manuel da Luz" billboards (for the election) were really annoying me by the second week.

I was staying in a villa a few KM away from Portimao, so it was nice and quiet up there in the hills.
