Hi all. I'm hoping someone can help me with this.

I consider myself to be a pretty intelligent person. However, computers sometimes aren't my area.

I just downloaded a mod created by OldNFaded -- an Arthurian era mod based on the Warlord books by Bernard Cornwell. Here's what I did.

When I started to download, there were the typical couple of options: Run or Save. I picked Save.

Then it brought me to a place that was telling me it was putting the thing in my Savegame folder. I thought that was odd but I figured the computer knew what it was doing so I clicked Ok and started to download.

Took me about 5 hours. Yeah, love dialup.

When it was done, I guess I was logged off the internet and brought to the place where the download had put itself: my savegame folder. I can see it in there; the icon looks like a disk drive with a red arrow pointing down at it.

however, when I double-click on it and try to Run it, a message comes up saying that it has invalid material or something.

I started up MTW just to see if perhaps the mod was there, but no.

What do I do here? I'm utterly lost and this mod sounds great; I'd love to try it but I just don't know what I'm doing obviously. Those years as an English major were good for SOMEthing, just not this... :book:

Any help?!??!

Sounds like a corrupted DL to me since the mod is obviusly in the MTW folder but doesn´t run so you need to DL it again. I also recommend a freash install if MTW and the latest patch. Good luck!

Hi CountMRVHS

When I download anything I always save it in C:My Documents.

It is then easy enough to transfer it to the correct dir from there.
If anything goes wrong at a later date the d/load is there in My Documents.
This saves having to d/load all over again from the internet.

But if you have a corrupt d/load now, you will need to d/load it again.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your replies guys. I had just reinstalled VI (along with MTW) about a week ago, and have the latest patch. Guess it's another 5 hours of dloading for me... Hopefully I'll get some results this time...

So what IS the correct directory for something like that? I'd assume you'd want it in the main MTW folder, the one that shows the campmap folder, the savegame folder, and all the other piles of folders. Is that right?

Yes thats the place for it. With all the other files and folders.

I downloaded Mundus Magnus mod. And I copied and pasted the files into the Data folder. But it hasn't changed anything. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

GAAAAAA!!!!

Just spent another 4 hours dloading the same thing, after deleting its presence yesterday.

Same thing happened. It said I had about an hour left on the download, I left the room for one minute and then heard the noise that tells me it's done. I come back and see it's completed somehow (that was the fastest hour I've ever experienced!), and then I'm logged off. I can see the icon in the My Documents folder, so I copy it and put it into the Medieval folder.

Then I double-click it. The same thing happens. "Invalid Data".

What the heck is going on?!!?! Am I SUPPOSED to double-click the thing once I move it into the MTW folder?? What can I do to make this work!?!? I'd rather not spend a third day downloading this same exact thing....

Someone please, please help!!! :help:

Sounds like your dial-up connection is disconnecting on you. Make sure you specify that it never should automatically (options in IE). Also turn off your screen saver and make sure your comp doesn't power things down when it thinks it isn't busy. Worst case, sit and play Solitaire until it finishes.
