Since there seem to be first time players keeping up interest in SP Shogun, I'd like to promote my modified campaigns. Though the latest 'ShogunAmagiv1.7' version of them hasn't yet been added to this site, they are available from here:3ddownloads (http://www.3ddownloads.com/strategy-gaming/totalwar/STW_WE/spc)

The campaigns have more historical start positions than the originals. They also have altered unit sizes to allow peasant spearmen to be effective, and altered strategies to prevent the AI clans being overrun by ronin, as happens in the original game.

The 'description' of the campaign is not working with the amagi 1.07. I have a dutch version. How do I get those descriptions working? :help:

Hello Drisos, thanks for your Takeda campaign reports. I found that the AI clans were too aggressive in the original 1530 campaign and got themselves wiped out, especially the Takeda. However, since you are the Takeda, this might not be a problem. Warning: if you install my campaigns the unit sizes and diplomacy of the original will be overwritten.

To add Dutch descriptions just use the originals:

Go to loc/Dutch and open startpos.txt.

Copy the Start in 1550 and Start in 1580 descriptions and paste underneath.

Change the titles and paragraph headings of the copies to Sengoku 1545 (1550) and Sengoku 1570 (1580). Here is the 1570 text, note that 1580_desc_line_1 becomes Sengoku_1570_desc_1, without the 'line'

//Sengoku 1570
//----------------

["Sengoku_1570_desc_1"]
{"De zwakheid van de laatste Japanse Shogun heeft het land in chaos gestort. Krijgsheren, waarvan velen niet veel meer zijn dan ordinaire bandieten, heersen over de Japanse provincies. De natie heeft een sterke leider nodig om de vrede terug te brengen, maar het krijgt slechts meer burgeroorlogen omdat steeds meer clans zich tegen elkaar keren."}

["Sengoku_1570_desc_2"]
{"Er zijn meer dan 30 jaren verstreken sinds de komst van de Europeanen die de haakbus naar Japan hebben gebracht. Was het eens het wapen van enkelen, nu is het buskruit uitgegroeid tot massawapen en het heeft de manier van oorlogvoeren in Japan totaal veranderd. De samoerais zijn nog steeds meesters in het oorlogvoeren, maar zelfs zij moeten respect tonen voor de kracht van buskruit en hagel!"}

["Sengoku_1570_desc_3"]
{"Vele jaren van vechten vormen voor de zeven grote clans en hun daimyo's - feodale krijgsheren - de basis voor de uiteindelijke strijd om de alleenheerschappij over Japan. Elk van hen heeft nu een formidabel leger van krijgers achter zich die klaar staan om zijn orders uit te voeren. Elk van hen wacht nu zijn kans af om Shogun te worden, als bewijs voor het feit dat hij zich de kunst van de totale oorlogvoering eigen heeft gemaakt."}

I'd recommend playing the 'inner' clans, Oda, Takeda, Imagawa and Uesugi, as the others have a strategic advantage.

Does this campaign mod have any effect to multi-playing? I changed a faction's starting units in MTW and I couldn't play that faction online.

Thanks for the info. ~:)

One thing: What exactly does installing change? Just the settings in SP? ~:confused:

The unit sizes cannot be changed for the single player game without changing multiplayer as well. Restoring the multiplayer game is easy, however. If you've installed the campaigns there will be a folder called 'original data'. When you want to play multiplayer copy the troopstats and projectiles files from there to the main folder, overwriting the files already there. Before continuing a single player campaign either install the mod again or keep copies of the modded files and replace the originals with them.

The other files in 'original data' are from the singleplayer campaign game.

Thanks Amagi! They're now working.

The campaigns are fine! Thanks for them all! Also thanks for the link to the campaign downloads. I downloaded several others too. ~:)

I was going to make last year's versions the final versions.

However, I decided to improve the readme, and to test and improve the Mongol campaign. Also, Imagawa rulership over Iga was questioned, and they can certainly manage without it in the 1545 campaign, so I've corrected that. Losing the Iga income makes Imagawa easily the most challenging of the 1570 clans. The unit alterations were based on the 'Real Deal' multiplayer mod, but this still leaves ranged weapons as too powerful when fighting an AI opponent so I've adjusted Projectiles.txt as well.

After some tests I was ready to stop tweaking- except that I can't get the file to upload!

ok,

so Amagi,

which of the files is which... there are numerous versions on that page. Does each version have multiple campaigns?

Zen_Blade, it's become easier because the latest version wasn't uploaded to the same page. This is the new link:

Shogun Hiryu (http://www.3ddownloads.com/strategy-gaming/totalwar/STW_WE/stats/Shogun_Hiryu_Amagi.zip)

I've started another thread, with this link in the first post. The Shogun_Amagi campaigns of the original link are different from each other. The versions up to v1.4 have more campaigns, are ahistorical and the gameplay hasn't been tested as much: v1.5 on are earlier versions of Shogun Hiryu, which has a few improvements.

Any plans for new campaigns. I have enjoyed them all, except for the 1590 one. The alotments province-wise, especially for the Oda, seemed quite strange for historical-ness. Other than that, great work. ~:)

There are only two Sengoku campaigns based on historic starting positions, 1545 and 1570. The other campaigns may have remained from versions before v1.5. You don't have to uninstall them, however.

The newest of my campaigns can be downloaded using the Shogun_Hiryu link above. There are slight improvements to the 1545 and 1570 campaigns from the previous v1.7, and a revised Mongol campaign. The last Shogun I played was the Mongol campaign on expert as the Hojo, which is far harder than the original- until you devise the right strategy.

-The film 'Westworld' has a resort made up of three different settings and experiences. Westworld, ascetic, is coded blue. Medieval world, romantic, has red. Roman World, beautiful and erotic, is designated with the colour yellow.
