I´ve been working on some mods to improve the Mongol Invasion campaign experiences.
The general consensus is that it is too easy on expert on either side, and especially as the mongols.
Scorpion to the rescue. In my mods, the mongol campaigns have been made more of a challenge by the means of editing the troopstats, projectiles and unit_choices.
Ok, those of you are interested can stop reading and e-mail me at scorpion@nic.fi
for the mods.
Well, if you want to hear me ramble about the changes....here goes
Firstly, these mods include the changes made in my earlier mod for Sengoku warfare (see below), making the japanese more formidable in melee combat in general.
In the mod where you play as the mongols, the changes are as follows:
Japanese morale improved (samurai will be much more resolute now and will not run as easily under a hail of mongol arrows)
Japanese melee abilities tweaked (see above)
Mongol bow range reduced to 5800 from my mod (that means it´s up by 800 from normal STW)(bridge battles were a joke otherwise...and this is supposed to be a challenge)
Mongol morale&melee stats tweaked down(The chinese&korean troops are a bit weaker now, they should not compare to samurai)
Mongol cavalry melee stats toned down to more realistic levels (these are major changes, the original mongols were simply too tough in melee...unrealistically so, as one would think the samurai should excel there)
Mongol cavalry&Chinese Guardsman armor toned down (the light cavalry typically wore furs and a silk shirt....
The Hojo campaign, of course, makes the mongols tougher in general while tweaking down the morale of the japanese units a bit (though the elite units are still tough) while the melee abilities remain unchanged.
The changes are made to the mongols, whose morale is greatly increased, their armour remains the same, and most importantly the bows have a range of almost twice the original value, and they shoot faster (compared to the japanese, both my mods double reload time of bows while upping the power), more accurately and with greater power than before.
However, the melee abilities of the mongol cavalry are still toned down, but just a bit.
As before, unless someone wants to host these, I´ll email them to you if you want to give them a go.
Thanks
