I don't know about anyone else but the province I have the most trouble with in the campaign game is Kaga.It is difficult to attack early before the monk army gets large because if you extend too far either Oda or Uesugi stab you in the back. All those monks chew you up and spit you out as you try to climb them damn mountains to reach them that is if any of your meelee units survive the clouds of arrows the archers rain down on you.If I have cavalry I'll try to use them to trick some of the monks into chasing them off that wooded hill where my archers can get at them, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.Kaga is one tough nut to crack and usually costs me a lot of warriors. What province gives you the most trouble?

Thread moved from the Mongol Invasion - Expansion Pack forum.
Anyway, at least Owari has two bridges. I find I generally lose the most men in Musashi (must be jinxed...). Awa is supposed to be the most defensible province in the game, but actually, it's suprisingly easy.

even though the Ai is good it is susceptible it can have a good or a bad day on any province however in the mountains it does quite well purely because it buggers off into the farthest corner
but here is the thing often the AI could have better positions but it still goes into the farthest corner
i think one-bridge provs aren't that hard just boring and maneating

There arent any provinces that are too hard for me in the SP mode. Tito, maybe you are attacking Kaga too early, I never attack the rebel provinces that have monks unless I get my own monks or ND.

You may have something there Ajidrik.I do take some monks but sometimes only 2-3 units,
compared to the 6-8 that Kaga seems to have.I'll try increasing my monk units and give it a try.

I have the same problem as Anssi. I like to play as Takeda, but I always end up with my men in the Musashi meatgrinder. Damned horde just builds too fast for me to compete, especially with the "cheats" the AI gets to use. The worst part is that I can't just go AROUND Musashi through Shinano as Takeda, because doing so just makes me extremely vulnerable to Hojo in Kai, Suruga(?), and also in my newly-conquered Shinano. Hojo isn't very trustworthy at all when it comes to holding alliances. Uesugi doesn't go away that easily, either, after Shinano is conquered. And then Oda gets into the mess sometimes, too. Ugh.
Damned horde. Damned bridge province. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

Echigo (is that the river province next to dewa?) cause sometimes the Ronin reinforce it with WM if you let them from its adjacent Ronin provinces, one of them sometimes is the WM honor province.
Shimotsuke and Awaij are v.difficult as well.
Awaij there is only one route if u want to win...

I'd have to go with Kaga or Shinano. Since the nastiness of Kaga has already been covered, I'll just add my two cents about Shinano. The AI sits on the steep Southern heights with about a million archers, and it's an uphill fight the whole way. Flanking is pretty damn difficult to immpossible to do effectively. Take high honor troops and expect pretty stiff losses. Koonagi!!!!
Mushashi. It neighbors ANOTHER river province (Shimosa), so you have DOUBLE the river-invasion duty there! And there are lots of provinces around where the enemy can be lurking waiting to counter you, especially knowing he has a wall of his own in Shimosa... There is no easy way to get there, and no easy way to leave... (other than by port lol)

That's right, Vanya. I forgot about Shimosa. That province is a royal pain. I almost never get a chance to get there, though. Last time I tried, I ended up chasing around Hojo's Daimyo through his other provinces just to kill him... then when I did, the horde was taken over by Imagawa and I was done for. I was hoping to turn Hojo ronin and build up to take him over... but, noooooooo...

BakaGaijin: I've been successful with Takeda on expert by taking Musashi as early as possible, and letting Hojo bleed himself white trying to take it back. Keep Kai well garrisoned to deter attacks. Imagawa doesn't seem interested in Iyo because it's not worth anything. Watch for an opportunity to expand into a weaken Hojo or Uesugi once the AI clans start fighting each other.
