You can only diable the senate, I believe, although you can use the 3 roman families, the shared FOW has been fixed by bouis.

The shared fow has been fixed? Do you mean it has been disabled? Please point me to the post that shows how to do this. Thx.

Thx for the link but I am familiar with that thread. That procedure does not eliminate the shared line-of-sight, nor can I see any reference to it making a claim so to do.

Please elaborate.

Hi, ~

I'm new here and do not know if there is any other thread which handels with that issue.

Can anybody discribe me how I can create a new faction or simply change an existing faction into another like the macedones into the troys?
I want to change the appearence of the name, the symbols and banners
- I think I know how to change the banners -
but which files do I have to edit?

 Thanks to all who can help me.

RTR as far as I know just made the senate dissapear after the first turn so it appeared there was no senate at all. I can't quite remember the exact details of them doing this (and they might have done differently in later versions) but it had something to do with making the senate unstable and hating everyone.

@Tatsumaru

Hi, welcome to the boards. You can't create new factions there is a limit of 20 (and then the rebels) To change the name follow this tutorial

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=661159&postcount=5

The symbols and banners can be found in the UI folder I think after you have extracted the PAK files. There is a tutorial somewhere on this topic. ~:)

Thanks, Sundjata for your welcome and for the link.

I began to change the Scipii into another roman clan I imagined.
First I tried to edit the banners the troops use in battle. It all worked but there now where white borders around the banners.

- I used nearly white banners; do I have to use coloured banners ?

Have you checked the alphachannel for the banner?

The dds file for the banner works like the one for unit's. Make sure you havew the right alpha, and if you change the sape of the banner, you must allso change the alpha to the same shape.

With the use right use of alpha, you can make banners like this:

Allso note that if you change the shape, the glowing "when you celect the unit" will still fit the original shaqpe. (this is not usually a big deal, but if you do drastic changes, it might look silly.)

The 'alpha' channel is an extra set of information that the game uses for transparency.

You need a reasonable paint program to display it ( photoshop or a later version of paintshop pro) so you might need to check to make sure the one you are usign supports that feature.

In simple terms, the alpha channel is an extra 'layer' to the image which isn't actually displayed. The areas on this layer that are 'white' use teh solid colour. The areas that are black are completely see-through.

Anything in between...well..it's in between!

The white area you are getting on teh banner is the area which is white on the coloured part of your texture, but which would have been blanked out as completely clear on the alpha channel.

I use "Paint Shop Pro 6". :book:

How can I display the alpha in a program; or must it display the alpha automaticaly if it can display that ?

You know you have to convert the .dds files into a "normal" format.
I converted them into .jpg, is that OK or do I have to convert them into .tga as they are displayed ?

P.S. Now I have nearly the same problem with the unit textures but not as worse as the banners. :furious3:

Here's a thread on alpha channels, post #14 outlines the steps for PSP (7.02 in that case but it's likely similar for 6)...
