You start off as a junior member. Junior members can post in most fora, but not the backroom of the tavern (although they can still view it). Sooner or later, if you post fairly regularly and politely, you get promoted to member (it's not about post count).

Members can post in all fora, and can edit their posts. There's probably a few other minor benefits.

A few people get promoted to senior member if they make a big contribution to the org, but this is entirely honorific.

And of course, there are the moderators, assistant moderators and administrators, who make sure the Org runs smoothly (again, people are made moderators/assistant moderators for big contributions to the Org). Administrators, moderators and assistant moderators have all sorts of powers, such as the ability to close down threads and edit any post.

Another useful thing I have learned from the Org:

"Fora" is the plural of "forum."

I don't know about that. Most people just say forums. Maybe it was invented for these forums to kind of fit with the RTW theme. Latin roots and stuff.

Yes, people feel the need to attempt to latinize a lot of words here. Check your URL, it says "forums" and that is correct English...
