I seem to like cartoons: The Simpsons, Family Guy, the very underrated Futurama, South Park etc.

In the non-cartoon section, i used to be a big fan of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, but only the first three seasons are worth watching. (Maybe it was because i got older).

I don't really watch anything regularly anymore.

Best: Lost. Awesome plot, awesome cast, just an incredible show.
Alias is also good, but not nearly as good as Lost (the creator should do all the shows for ABC, so they can stop doing all those damn reality shows). But Jennifer Garner is hot. ~D

I also like Seinfeld...

Clear winner: Deep Space 9
Good show. I haven't been able to see much of it, but when I can catch it, I quite like it. I also like TNG. I've seen some of the original, but it's a bit hard for me to get past the effects and Captain Kirk's interesting style of acting.

Quincy

All hail the champion of justice! Just because someone has been stabbed to death 100 times by someone covered in blood who confesses to the murder, doesn't mean they did it. The knife attack may not have killed the victim until a fly landed on the dying man's head, and the additional weight of the fly was enough to finish them off, thus saving the other man from the death sentence. Most coroners would miss such details when writing their reports, but not our Quincy. Faultless dedication to his work. Plus despite chopping up dead bodies all day, he still manages to pull the birds. An inspiration and hero to us all.

After Quincy ended, they should have stopped making television programs altogether! The quality of programming took a sharp nosedive afterwards. I've seen Diagnosis Murder, so I know what I'm talking about.

The Simpsons is not only the best TV ever, it is also the height of Western Civilization. Everything else is downhill from here.

Big John,

When you say Sealab, do you mean the cartoon Sealab 2020? I loved that one.

Johny Quest too. Underdog, Penelope Pitstop, and The Banana Splits. Great stuff. Even H.R. Puff'un'stuff. Guess I'm showing my age a bit here.

How about Kookla, Fran, and Olie on Sunday afternoons, anyone else remember that?

When you say Sealab, do you mean the cartoon Sealab 2020?no. i'm talking about the adult swim program sealab 2021, inspired by sealab 2020 (with which i am unfamiliar).

Eww....I've seen Friends and Seinfeld way too much on this thread. Time to help pull it up ~;)

I like the early Family Guy (the new ones I am something less than impressed with), when South Park does satire (the news and afghanastan episodes come to mind), old simpsons, Gilmore Girls, History Channel specials.

And of course, as an American male, football! College, not NFL mind you. Except John Madden.

The Simpsons

There are many subtle allusions to past events, not to mention great writing, (voice) acting, and great characters. The first couple seasons weren't the best though.

In my book, Babylon 5 is the best TV show I've ever seen.

For comedy, The Simpsons and Monty Python sit atop the heap.

1) The Simpsons - somewhat untame and unruly in the beginning, now the most timid adult cartoon series
2) Family Guy - off topic humor, violence, american liberal family
3) Anything on the History Channel

I'm sure this will upset someone. :beam:

I agree with Gregoshi, it would have to be Babylon 5. Telling a story over 5 years of real life is admirably ambitious - and boy does it pay off.

More recently, I've been enjoying Scrubs, which is the best comedy show I've ever seen.

I'll join the majority with The Simpsons. D'oh!

If I had cable it would be tuned to the History Channel 25 hours a day. But I don't. :furious3:

Other than that, I'm not much of a TV guy. In my youth ( ~;) ) I had some favorites: Histeria (it's where I got my nickname from!), as well as Johnny Quest and Hong Kong Fui (or however you spell it). Rockie and Bulwinkle was awesome! I even had their video game for the original Nintendo (not too good, and I didn't have the skillz to get far at all).

some of the very best shows of all-time include:

1. Little House on the Prairie

2. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

3. Star Trek

4. Just for Laughs: Gags

5. Super-Human Samurai Syber Squad - yes i know the name is horrendous but this was a truly great show! it was like Power Rangers (Power Rangers was utter garbage in every sense) for the mature, smart adolescent

6. Kung Fu: The Legend Continues

7. Transformers

8. GI Joe

9. Lambchop's Playalong; this was actually a very smart and mature show despite the babyish name. it only truly became babyish when they renamed it to Charlie's Funhouse or something stupid like that. that's when she started reading stories to preschoolers. ~ but crap like that never made it into Lambchop's Playalong!

10. American Gothic

11. The Handler; which was 100 000 times better than all the CSI and Law and Order crap on TV, yet still it mysteriously disappeared from existence way before it's time :furious3:

12. Beavis and Butt-Head; the only cartoon show to ever keep depraved humor as an artform rather than letting it descend into worthless obscenity as all the shows to come after it have done

Gah! TV is worthless. If I ever watch anything, it is a foreign news channel (US news shows are uber-worthless), but I mostly get my news online, now.
