ok if anyone played campaign in age of empires the conquerors and did the viking one,there is a sea of worms in the middle of the map that if any ship ventured into it sank.any mention of this is history?

I think it was just there to make you invade Greenland.

I would imagine that ships that did try to cross the Atlantic would get lost or sink, so myths about the sea being full of worms would be created.

You are right. I remember that and it would have been too easy to sail around Greenland so they made it harder by forcing you to go through it. It is important to note that the sea was a dangerous place so there is a shred of credibility in what the game did.
