General animation on little elephant...

I cannot understand where is the connection between the difference from when the general uses the big elephant and stands up or when he uses the little elephant and stay sitted , where is written that and how is the linking?

I think this is hardcoded. I once placed 3 soldiers on a small elephant and the last 2 ended up with standing up animations (like with the large elephants)
