The Mayor of Paris throws his dummy out of the pram.

Is it a political characteristic in France to behave like a spoilt brat if you can't get your way?

Let's face it... receiving an Olympic bid is all about who can bribe the IOC the best. They're as crooked as a dog's hind leg. Maybe Paris doesn't have the money to throw at them for 2016 and has to save up it's pennies for 2020.

I saw a documentary that showed that this was true in the past, now of course it's not true or they hide it better ~;)

Maybe they are just hiding it better...

Delanoë. Argh. Unable incompetent unefficient lobbyist made leftist mayor of a rightist town by the most unlikely blunder of the french right..... He's high on my target list(though behind Fabius the poisoner & Sarkozy the demagogic brute).

You forgot the top bastard, the one that rules them all and in darkness binds them...

Chirac!

Delanoe is taking a lot of fire here for his unconsiderate, unsensitive remark. Let's open the bash festival!

I'm currently enjoying the behaviour of French politicians.

You know I'm beginning to acquire a sneaking respect for the ordinary Frenchie....you despair of your politicos almost as much as we do. ~;) There MUST be some suitable candidates for office, somewhere.
*looks under stairs...rummages through cupboards*

At least we (in modern liberal democracies) can vote the buggers out.

Let's open the bash festival!

Louis,

Just remember the "Bash Game" rules: Bashing politicians and bureaucrats = OK (as long as they are not Guild members); Bashing entire countries/peoples/religions = not OK.

Just another example of french political arrogance.

(.../...)

Chirac used to be not that bad. Of course, he is now completely overlapped & archaic, but he's lower on my list as he used not to be THAT wrong. And he's not likely to be in the 2007 pres' race - unlike those I cited.

Sorry, in french from Le Monde (http://www.lemonde.fr/web/recherche_resultats/1,13-0,1-0,0.html?query=delanoe&periode=30&dans=dansarticle&num_page=1&booleen=et&ordre=pertinence) :

Ce choix, je l'assume", a poursuivi le maire socialiste, qui présidait le comité de candidature Paris 2012.In short, he is complaining about Blair and Coe 'bending the rules' to get the Olympics.

Like, er,

Duh!

of course they did! Halfwit. It's how an Olympic bid is won and we all knew this in advance.

Either you're too stupid to know this or you're too unimaginative to bend the rules in your favour too.
Of course, it's the latter. So there's no point in being a fool about it afterwards to save your sorry ass. You got dealed a winning hand and still managed to loose. Down you go: :toilet:

They're a lot like the Americans in that respect, there were only two choices and the other was a complete idiot...

*oh no I said the Americans and the French were similar*
