I just found out about the Vinland Map... Looks like it's surrounded in mystery...
Can you guyz tell me more?!
Vinland is generally accepted to be a viking name for a north american land mass. It's somewhere between Labrador and Virginia. The best candidate is the island of Newfoundland (pronounced New-fun-land) in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The reason for this is that an 11th century Norse settlement has been found there. Complete with houses a forge and animal pens.

Yes. The Quebec area was supposedly Markland, so called due to its amount of woodland while above that map was Helluland, meaning 'flat-stone' land. Hvitramannaland is another contentious one, meaning 'white mans land'. No one is really sure where that one was, that it was believed to be west of Vinland so possibly Nova Scotia, maybe even as far as New York.
Ed that is one of the things I've looked at for my new mod.
