Hi all.
This thread i made cause i wanted to hear your personal opinions about whether you should play Rome Total Realism or Rome Total War Bugfixer version.
Why i want to hear your personal opinions is cause i've tried out both these versions and i'm not sure which one to play.
keep posting like never before.

Though bug-fixer is nice, it suffers from most of the flaws of vanilla RTW, so i would go with RTR.
Or better yet, check out SPQR

Most of the actual "bugs" fixed by player1 in his mod are also fixed in RTR.
It all depends do you like just fixed vanilla, or total conversion mod for more realism.
BUG-FIXER makes original game fun to play.
But, it's still original game.
Same units, same buildings, same combat mechnic.
Just less bugs.

soo.. if i get it right you suggest me to play the RTR what is it verison 6.0?
instead of the Bug fixed version in RTW?
If you ask me (bug-fixer author), I guess it all depends what you like.
Old vanilla with bugs fixed, or something that is wastly different like RTR (which features things like just one roman, factions, new units, some old units removed or reskinned, big download size, etc...)
It's a matter or taste...
bug fixer fixes annoying bugs in Rome Standard,
RTR changes the game entirely
both have their merits
if you want the fun of fighting the civil war, the challenge of keeping the Senate happy while competing with the other Roman Factions then go for Bug-Fixer
once you have tired of that and want a straight out, "no-pope" game, then go get RTR (or SPQR or EB or one of the many very good mods out there)
(i have not tired of the standard game yet, but i already know i will be soon enough, so i am keeping an eye on several mods i may want to play)
cheers,
B.

Ok its a matter of taste as player1 said sounding so correctly.
Then i would simply like to ask you :
What version do you play?
Would it be so suprising if I said I play with bug-fixer. ~D
Seriously, I'm not yet bored with vanilla, and dial-up problems preventing me from exploring other mods in any serious way.

I tried RTR, but didn't like some of the changes they made. I'm currently working on a personalised RTW vanilla campaign with the following mods:
Bug-Fixer v1.6
Proper Wonders on the Battlefield (All hail Epistolary Richard!!! ~D )
Professorspatula's Carthaginian Archer download
Sinuhet's AI Formation Mod v2.1
LAca's Seleucid Legionary skins
(The last two can be downloaded from TW Center)
I've also added ballistas to the Seleucid and Carthaginian rosters and abolished fictional/anachronistic Roman units. I'll be spending this week finding a way to modify the unit stats in export_descr_unit without making the game CTD halfway through a custom battle!
Having said all that, I'll definitely check out Europa Barbarorum when it's finally released - or did that happen when I was on holiday? ~

Nope, EB is still in closed beta-testing. It will be released. Eventually.

An open beta will be released when our new features are all in and working, so that there is enough available to play a full campaign. ~:)
