Hey guyz....

I was playing with Egypt. I was preparing for an attack against Numidia. I sent a 13 unit army to the nearest Numidian city. It took me 3 turns to get there. On my way, I pressed the mercenaries button and guess what I found:

Mercenary Hoplites ~ :dizzy2:

Has anyone experienced this?!

I have one - you pressed the mercenaries button when your army was still in Egypt , Egypt was ruled by the Macedonians and they had mercenaries Greek hoplites

Yeah, I found this too. I read a guide recently and it said if you have just destroyed an army a lot of times you can hire mercenaries who were former units in that army that routed.

That must have been an MTW guide. As this feature is not in RTW

well then in retrospect CA must really be questioned on why it left out that game feature when it had previously already been implemented...

Could it be they'd been recruited elsewhere by the AI and then released from service in those areas and were looking for new employment to save them a long unpaid walk home?
