This thread is meant to be a place to post times that we (those who plat Shogun!) will be online and available for games, as well as instances when we are waiting idly in the foyer and waiting for someone to log on.

I’ll be in the foyer every weeknight between 6:00 pm US Central time (18:00 GMT) and 6:30 pm (18:30 GMT). If you want a game, leave a message on this thread any time you’re on or will be on and we can all cooperate to actually get some online playing done.

I had to reinstall Shogun today...

I reinstalled v1.02 and changed the Internet.cfg file to get on your server Shambles - but I crash to desktop everytime I try joining your server...

I checked and as i thought NO 1 has been banned.
Have you tried playing a single player game and does that work?

Apart from that the only thing i can think of Is for you to uninstall game,
Then run a registry cleaner program (lots around,)
Theres 1 on my web page, and Lots in www.majorgeeks.com
Then after that Restart pc.

Reinstall and update.
Finaly edit the internet.cfg file.

I followed your instructions to the letter Shambles, still though, when I connect - I either get "Failed to Connect", or I crash to desktop.

The strange thing is - I used to get that all the time, then after a few times I was able to log onto the foyer, I've no idea what changed - but after getting on I could always do so. Since reinstalling though - I havent managed to get on yet. I'll just keep trying & hope for the best.

Seems the server pc went down,
05/11/05 at 5:03:45 Pm GMT.

I did not notice for around 5-6 hours,
"was on A difrent pc playing Empire earth"
Hopefully you found a nother place to play whilst the server was down,

Im unshure what caused it. But il look through some log files later "if I can be botherd"

I have a suspicion that The power may have failed,
Or windows Decided it had some updates and Kindly restarted its self,

And Its not actualy hacking.

"port scanning" is something hackers do before hacking you.
It reports all your open ports and tells the person Which of them you have open,
It is probably Some sort of Advertizement,
Windows Xp has a built in messenger service, (NOT MSN)
These can pop up on your screen By sending messages to an IP adress,

Lots of companys do this,

as i said before im sorry if it sounded like an accusation.,
I just needed to check,

Wednesday I'm in from 1.30pm to 4.15 pm ~:) Friday from 3.30 pm to about 11 pm. Saturday from 7 pm to about 10 pm. This is all in GMT. I might be able to host by that time so that's not a problem either.

In case you didn't know, young grasshoppers (phrase courtesy of 7Bear7Bottom), the SA's have a reputation for being one of the most skilled clans still active in M:TW. They;ve purportedly found strategy and tactics that were nigh undefeatable in VI 4v4 (it was described as "the diamond"). While 4v4s aren't very enjoyable in S:TW because of the lag, it will be interesting to read about how well you do against an SA in 1v1, 2v2, and if you're lucky enough to have enough players--3v3. Have fun guys.

Btw I have time to play every afternoon (from about 15.00-16.00 GMT till 21.00-22.00 GMT) monday till thursday. Friday only the evening (from 18.00-19.00 GMT) and thats the same for Saturday. Sunday I can play whole day normally (except a few hours in the afternoon).

with Blitz very good games,
mostly played totomi, went to 4th for a game

I lost the 1st game,

then there was
A really close one where the game ended sudenly in the middle of a great mele battle after a shoot out in the rain at totomi,

Was probably closest game i have played yet,
Was very good fun :)

I won too But did not know who won untill i saw Victory for the attackers when i arived back from game :)

We played first 1v1 in Totomi, I was defender, Gaijin attacks. I won in quite a close battle.
Then we played some 2v2 with Pao and Shambles too, I was all the time with Shambles, think we won once and lost twice or so. ~:)

but if I remember correct unroutable was the element related to the autorout test, done randomly by the computer.

edit: I've found in an old doc by Kraellin:

"Unroutable:
Doesn't actually make them "unroutable", but actually flags them as samurai in the code which makes the honourable, meaning they get bonuses in their routing check codes. Ashigaru and Mongols are basically peasants and rabble, so they aren't given samurai status."

But i dont beleve it :)

Every thing with Unroutable next to it seems to be a bit less likley to rout,
But they will rout, Just takes a Lot to make them run away,

Kensai/ninjas are said to be unroutable

So i think Its just that there not going to runaway Mearly becous there aproaching 16 enemy units And there All alone with no friendlys near by,
Where as yari ashigarus might, (becous theres a morrale drop when your close to enemy units i beleve)

But for instance Ninjas could be within proximity of many opponent units. then also suffer -4 morrale from musket fire. and then be attacked by Wm which is a nother -4 morralle or something, And then His general dies..

Drisos thinks it means,

if your Ashigaru "pesants" get routed,
And then run in to or past your kenzai or ninja.
your kenzai or ninja wont loose morrale"

I think it means, that they dont get affected by enemy proximaty.

Becous its sometimes dificult to get in to the foyer. people adjust there settings,
Unfortunatly ints not always the settings that's to blame.
Sometimes My server is down....

SO to help people figure out if the server is down or not. I have added a "ShableS's Server Is....." caption on the Home page of my web site.

When the server is up it says.
ShambleS'S Server is..... UP
and when its down it says
ShambleS'S Server is..... DOWN.
Its fully automated (provided i remember to start the thing)

So you can trust the web site to be 97% right.

but theres still.

1.5% chance, That the server is up and i forgot to start the prog that tells people its running.
AND also
1.5% chance, That I rememberd to restart the prog that tells the web page the server is online, but forgot to start the server

The chances of the web page reporting that the server is up or down when it is infact the opposit, is very remote, and would be down to human error,
This should help people decide whats wrong if they cant connect to the server.

Hello fellow Samurais.
No, I'm not in the foyer now. In fact I haven't been there
in months, but I decided to show up more often this year. (a kind of new years resolution)
Seeing how Drisos really puts a lot of effort in keeping the small
community together and Shingaijin creates new players out of thin air,
is very promising. I did follow the posts and threads here although
I haven't posted since the router/ hosting issue. The frustration connected
to it and a major lack of free time kept me from participating.
