Modding German Spearmen

I find it odd that the impetuous, untrained German spearmen are able to form a Greek-style phalanx, so I've decided to remove the ability. However, I keep getting a CTD halfway through custom battles. What do I have to alter besides export_descr_unit and text\export_units? ~:confused:

There's been some reported CTD problems with modding phalanx spearmen. Have a look at this thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=43275). Don't worry, they do find an answer in the end.

The thread you indicated seems to explain why Roman Auxilia and Triarii don't carry swords, when historically they did. I think I'll just leave the German spearmen as they are. I suppose their "phalanx" is meant to be a precursor of the Saxon shield wall - and, let's face it, in Campaign mode the Germans need all the help they can get! ~D
