Cannot find preference file

I just installed Rome Total War, then the 1.2 patch, and the player1's bugfixer. I then went to look for the preference file to turn of the Green arrows, but I cannot find the preference file.

You have to start a campaign first. Then quit and the preference file will be there; it's only created after a campaign is started.

It's common mistake.

It happend to me with several other games too.
