Hello all,

I've heard rumours that an official campaign/scenario editor will soon be available?

Any truth to this?

We don't need one.

Our unofficial editors (don't search for official sources in terms of editing stuff, except the map editor of MI) have already created one and revised it to perfection more than once.

Download it here: http://www.totalwar.org/maps/tools/STWCampaignEditorV1.1b.zip

A full collection of custom campaigns can be found here: http://www.totalwar.org/maps/spc.shtml

And for all the editing plethora your heart may wish, our files section is the most full and comprehensive:

Hey!

That's great thank you!! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I also noticed in the manual:

"You can create Mongol units in a non-Mongol Invasion campaign, or create Mongols units to be owned by Japanese clans in a Mongol Invasion campaign. However I have not tested these scenarios thoroughly and I cannot guarantee what will happen".

Any information as to whether this has been tested yet?

cheers

I don't know exactly if that's been tested before or not...but hey, why don't you test it yourself and show us your editing skills! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

It's not hard with Hecose's great campaign editor.

I downloaded the editor it was great.

However, the map looks real fuzzy. Did I do anything wrong or that's the way it is?

Wow, I'm honoured there are still people downloading and using the campaign editor I wrote.

The map is a little fuzzy. I don't think there's anything wrong with your computer. But you should still be able to make out the province names.

After releasing the editor, I have tried assigning Mongol units to Japanese clans and Japanese units (even shinobi) to the Mongols. The game worked like normal. But of course you as Mongols won't receive any more new Japanese units and as Japanese won't be able to train new Mongol units. However I didn't test this very thoroughly so I don't know whether there will be problems later. But at least from the few tests I did it was okay.

Sounds promising. I hope soon we will be able to be Japanese clans and able to build mongol units. Sorta like mercenaries in a way. Although I know complete fiction, would be good and could change the way we fight our battles completely.

Toda Nebuchadnezzar, Sorry to disappoint you but the campaign editor won't be able to do that. (allow Japanese clans to train Mongol units) The campaign editor can only create a specific campaign scenario but cannot change the mechanics of the game. So you can give Mongol units to the Japanese at the start of a campaign but you won't be able to change the fact that the Japanese don't have any buildings that can train Mongol units.

It might be possible if they release a patch for STW, but I don't think that's likely.

In general discussion, I mentioned an idea: give the clans out-of-timeline units and edit the troopstats to give those irreplacable units special ability.

The YA in mongol campaign for example. This unit can not be produced, so the YA you have in the beginning of such a scenario is going to be all the YA that you are going to have. Suppose you turn YA into yari-sai ...

Or, suppose in a Sengoku campaign, you beef up the stats of Mongol units and assaign them to the Japanese clans in the beginning ...

I am thinking of editing several such units as the potential generals. That'll add some role-playing flavor to the game play. Imagine a lone Mongol knight who becomes the war god of Japan ....

Yeah, I do like the idea, I've made a few personal campaigns which use it quite well...

Another idea I like is one clan controlling almost everything however having hardly any units at all by one-province clans with about 40 units each until they can stabalize their frontiers...and when you factor in the Mongols to that, you have one helluva game for Hojo http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
