View Full Version : How do I edit the music?
Is there a guide, or does anyone know how I can edit the music in the game?

Yes, is that possible? Arrrrh, imagine charging across the desert sand accompanied by Basil Poledouris' "Anvil of Crom" or frankly any part of the Conan soundtrack. Or the Gladiator soundtrack, that would do too :charge:
You and I seem to have the same things in mind. :p

Make a folder in Data so it has the following structure: Data/sounds/music
Drop the mp3 files in there (they must be in mp3 format).
Edit desc_sounds_music.txt, put the title of your mp3 in the appropriate culture and event (campaign, or battle map idle, marching or battle).

Anyone actually added some of Poledouris' works to RTW? Is it as likely to get you to drool during battle as I think it is?
If someone has already made a "Poledouris Music Mod" for RTW, could that person #pleasepleaseplease# pack all necessary files (mp3s and modified descr_sounds_music.txt) and post it here at the .org for us mere mortals to download?
Ah, "Anvil of Crom" would make great, g r e a t I tell you, charge-music..
(Whoops, started drooling again. Sorry about that.)
Another thing that would be great to download would be a "Voice Mod", with for example instead of ye olde boring "Charge!" one could hear a thunderous "Rooooooma Victooooor!!" (or for Carthage, "Eat their babies!! :laugh2:)
(Bloody drooling)

I'd keep an eye on the Latin VoiceMod (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=46622) then.
Are you sure that's the way to do it? Becuase I changed my descr_sounds_music file, and added two songs to data/sounds/music yet nothing happens. It just plays the original songs!

EvilNed> go to Data/sounds and remove the file events.dat (either by deleting or renaming)
That file is no longer used in 1.2

It's a pitty the links to the single ideal music mod are removed.
Music from the Gladiator, Braveheart, Black Hawk Down (yes, the film itself was crap, but the music was ok), Alexander, etc..ah, droool. Ok, so it wasn't all that legal (very little so, actually) but I can't imagine any company suing the .org for anything because of it. Who would they sue anyway?
How about providing a link to an _external_ site where the mod can be downloaded, and put up a statement in the.org main page where you state that any content of external links isn't your responsability? I won't tell ~D
I got it to work! Thanks guys. Now the Drums of Gaugamela plays whenever I fight as the greeks. :)
