It keeps screwing up whenever I try
The campaign editor doesn't really assign heirs, it just suggests them. Making heirs in the campaign editor won't give you heirs in the actual campaign but it will only suggest Shogun their honour and where to put them, IF you do have heirs, thing that is very improbable in non Mongol Invasion and Sengoku Jidai times campaigns. (e.g. my gempei war campaign doesn't have any heirs - 1100's)
Luckily in non Mongol Invasion and Sengoku Jidai ages daimyo deaths by age/disease are very unlikely.

I assume we are talking about the same campaign editor. If not please ignore this post.
When you specify where to place heir 1, heir 2, heir 3 up to heir 9, what the program does is it will place your first 9 units in that specific order. If at that particular start date you have 3 heirs, your first heir will appear in the first unit being placed, your second heir will be in the 2nd unit placed, etc. But since you do not have any 4th heir, the 4th unit will be just a normal unit.
So Terazawa Tokugawa you are mostly correct but not entirely - the campaign editor doesn't do anything about the heirs' honour. Well, at least I didn't intentionally program it to do so. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
I was just reading the window that comes up when you press the ? near the heirs assignment tab...honour was mentioned? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/confused.gif
Anyway, thanks for the explanation Hec http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Hmmmm, I was asking for my freind by the way, he wouldn't believe me. The only thing I need to know about is.....it's says that a unit has been placed in that region when I do click on the Heir button, does that actually add the unit there, or only if the heir is actually available?
Terazawa Tokugawa, Sorry my explanation in the campaign editor is not very precise. Actually the honour that can be customized refers to the honour of the unit which the heir belongs to, and not the honour of the heir himself. It is the whole unit's average honour and not the general's personal honour. So, indeed the heir's unit's honour can be set, but not the heir's honour.
NagatsukaShumi, when you add a unit with an heir into a province, the unit will be added whether or not you have an heir. By specifying an heir you are not really putting an heir into that unit, but only specifying your preference of where you want your heir to be, IF you do have an heir.
Thanks Hecose, I understood now. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
