I'm not sure what is up, but I can't figure how to collect the points for
crusading to a certain spot :embarassed: . I get there, win the battle, take
the fort/keep and then the Game tells me I have completed my mission ~ . But no points really show up and then if I lose the provence later
it tells me I have failed and the crusader symbol returns to its original spot.
I don't have a manual and I am playing vanilla MTW. Could you guys :help: ?

Perhaps you did it after a time limit expired and it told gave a success message anyways? They say some GA missions are bugged.

It's a bug....

You complete the Crusade, but you don't have the points shown. Although you don't see the points, they are counted when the specific period ends.....

But do you have to hold onto the provence indefinately? ~

I guess you have to keep up with the points on your own :dizzy2: .

I believe you have to hold it until 1205, which is the point at which the game stops counting for crusades.

Wigferth Ironwall is right: crusade points are counted at set years between 1095 and 1204. If you lose the province in between and recapture it without a crusade, you will not gain points in the next year. Only conquest by crusade counts for some reason.

Waiting until 1205 unfortunately does not give you the points/pips either.
I remember a work around to get you the points anyway:

Crusades.

1. Conquer the crusade target area. You get a cheerful message, but no cigar (pips)
2. Move all of your soldiers out by sea/other method, leaving only a small garrison to maintain some province loyalty.
3. Let the Egyptians/Turks/Byzantines attack.
4. RETREAT to the KEEP or above (level 2). A Fort (level 1) is NOT enough.
4a. If there is a fort or none at all, move a large army in and build a keep (8-12 turns), go back to step 2.
5. Lose the siege by starvation/battle, depending on the AI's whim. At least a fort or large must be left in the province after you're kicked out (this is why retreating to a level 1
6. BANG! message, crusade eradicated, but yes cigar, the pips are now added to your GA total.

Cheer!

Other interesting things about glory goals include:
* After you get a total (so far) of 32 points for conquest, you no longer get pips for conquest. Try getting 31 in previous glory years, and then get as many conquest pips as possible in the next glory year (the years, in which glory is counted, are always the same).
Perhaps you can get as many as 63 pips... but i doubt it.

* OTOH, you get your homeland pips every time as long as you control them.

* Spain has a goal name Ibero-Spanish civilization or similar, but this one is impossible to get as there are simply no 30 different buildings between them, and upgrades are not counted.

* other glory goals i am currently investigating once more, to see if they work at all. Luckily, most do.

Is that the only way to collect the points? :inquisitive: I really hate to loose
the province I have worked so hard to capture and have planned for so long
a time :furious3:

That's wierd. Somebody else said exactly the same thing in a different thread, so I accepted the challenge and tried to list the possibilities for distinct building types.

I found 30 but it had better be a coastal province and have tradaeble goods AND iron deposits.

Oh and it's 31 if there are salt/copper/silver/gold mining possibilities too.

For the full list, see the other thread.

EDIT: Apologies. Having checked the other thread again, I see the 'somebody' I referred to, above, was your good self.. :embarassed:

Further notes:
* Actually, the Ibero-Spanish glory goal can be achieved (by only one spanish province though), meaning 2 out of the possible 6 glory points (2 for castile, granada, 1 for aragon, cordoba). So take Castile as it has iron...

* Some glory goals are era-dependant, meaning they will not appear if you start in Early, but they will appear in High/Late.
For example, the English Plantagenet Claims glory goal
"Your faction are the rightful heirs to extensive lands on the continent. Making good these claims are a noble and profitable objective. Points are counted in 1453 only. The following provinces must be controlled:"

I thought the Spanish building one did count upgrades? I've seen the AI get it before and they didn't have 30 different buildings (not including upgrades).

There are other bugged goals too. Like the trade one for the Italians and the crusade to Antioch for the Aragonese (VI only)
