I just thought I'd end my time as an ORG forums lurker, and come out to say how impressed I am with the professionalism of the EB team and how much I like the countdown posts.

I like the effort put into each of the descriptions presented. I anticipate an improvement in RTW that is an order of magnitude greater than that which will be provided by the game's producers with the upcoming BI. It is a rare group that inspires such dedication to the modification of a game.

I'd just like to give you all a collective pat on the back.

And I'd also like to take this opportunity to remind you all once again about how I predicted elephants in the TW series, way back in the STW days. My only claim to fame in the Org. I wish I had a copy of the post I'd use it as a signature tag.

Once again congratulations to the EB modders and keep up the good work.

One last bit of advice before I rejoin the lurkers, think about Bit Torrent for the release of the mod, it may help with initial distribution to the masses.

Cheers,

Well indeed, each time I see one my anticipation grows, it looks fantastic.

they sure are.

No don't use bit-torrent:
1) not everybody has it.
2) most important: I don't like bit-torrent.

Cheers,
We soon will have our own website and we also have the trvium server to upload the mod, so we don't need to upload on any torrent server altough we may use it to increse the distribution sources.

I second these two points, and also joins in on the praise of the EB team. If my wife knew what feelings I hosted for EB, I'd get battered up real bad ~:)

This wasn't a bit torrent trolling experiment. Just a piece of advice I thought I'd add since I dont post often.

Please forgive the unknowing inclusion of such a "controversial" topic within this post.

What's so bad about bittorrent? If it lets people get the download into their hands quicker, it can't be that bad, can it?

Actually, that will probably be the primary way of getting it from EB. None of us are rich enough to pay for full hosting of the EB download and the bandwidth necessary. A TTO member paid for the bandwidth for TTO to mirror (out of many, many mirrors) the RTW patch, and that cost several hundred dollars by itself in a matter of a day or two.

There will be other places that host EB, but bittorrent will likely be the primary (and, most likely, quickest) way to download it.

Actually I've been here since at least 2001, I lost my old account details, and haven't worried about getting it back. I was probably posting as just plain Dunhill back then.

Can't find my STW elephants post, but I've resurrected my old profile, I think

Lets see.

Cool.

As you can see I've been lurking a long, long time.

I've also moved from Tasmania to the Apple Isle for some reason. Paranoia?

bittorrent is a curse towards high speed internets....and there might be leechers so it may as well be slower....oh wells....I really prefer ftp dl lol its pretty fast

Two questions from myself

1) Do we have any rough idea when abouts the EB mod is going to be released?

2) Does anyone also have any rough guestimates of how large a download we're talking about here? and if it is enormous (as I suspect it will be) is it going to be broken up into several components?

Actually thats more three questions~D

I stopped playing RTW a while back and am awaiting EB to revive my interest in the game:)

1) Do we have any rough idea when abouts the EB mod is going to be released? The latest estimate is june 2006 ~D , but other than that it is unsure. An open beta is probably close though.

The open beta will be released as soon as we work out several building/complex issues. It could be a short time or a long time. We've been dealing with this one for weeks and weeks, but as we have no "super-coder" it isn't surprising we're having difficulty with it. We, unfortunately, are all amateurs at coding, except for Verci, who hates the text files. So we're plodding through it.

Some of the people on these boards remind me of that sort of kids that keep asking 'Are we there yet?' every three minutes when you're going somewhere.

But 'nyway, praise and glory be to the EB team indeed.

Strange, I don't recall posting on these boards in months.

Perhaps if the supposed "EB status" thread opening post (last updated in January) was less cluttered up with stuff that is already covered in other threads and just stated plainly at the top that the developers haven't even a vague clue you would be less burdened with this apparently oh so odious problem.

was june 2006 a real estimated date? omg, i never realised it to be so much work to mod.
