View Full Version : populations on EB map
Just curious as to how well the populations are balanced on the EB map. I personally play on huge units but a majority of people play on large. The problem with the vanilla RTW map is it was balanced for play on normal unit sizes.
It is really horrible when you can watch the A.I. deplete nearly every single city to nothing. So how sustainable is the population for A.I. factions and is it being beta tested with large unit sizes?
We believe the AI will be very competitive in EB.

That, doesnt realy answer the question.
I can relate to this situation, huge unit sizes rule =D

Yes I hate it when the Ai has huge armies but no economy. The population in their city's s normally 1000 tops. :help:
Sorry, I believe that the AI will be competitive at all unit sizes. I'll be able to talk a bit more about this later as we refine some things.

Its not just an issue with the AI, it somewhat restricts the players military size too. Especialy if your a faction with giant unit sizes (pike levies and warbands are like 240 men =/)
Well, I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing. It makes it more challenging for the player, does it not?

Suppose so, its just been difficult sustaining my massive blitz armies while leveling up settlements in my current seleucid campain despite the massive amount of territory.

I'm pretty sure that making it difficult for you to sustain your 'massive blitz armies' is one of the ways EB hopes to make the game more competitive

Yar i know, i just like devistation on a mass scale in vanilla http://www.dcforums.org/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Just curious, if it's a lot harder for the A.I. to bankrupt itself with BI. Mainly because the A.I. will just keep buying troops and have no foresight of cash reserves. Just about all but 2 factions have reserves after the beginning of the game, preventing them from economical development.
Just a suggestion on what I'm trying now is low end troops and missiles have 4 year train time. middle class troops have a 1-2 year train time and the elites take 2 years.
I figured this would help stop the A.I. from depleting it's small towns, plus it will take a lot longer for the A.I. to bankrupt itself under this method. And if they do go bankrupt, its more likely because they have higher end troops.

Interesting oaty...
Could you post the result when you figure out how it goes? You might have a problem with AI using highend troops as garison, and go bankrupt anyway. But if not, you might see the Ai dig up some more balanced armys..
