ARTWORK: how to make metallic charachters

as it says, how to make the mettalic characters, like the logo of teh Mongol invasion and the new ST M?

i know how to work with photoshop and coreldraw but somehow i cant get it richt...

any ideas?

um, not quite sure what yer trying to get. i dont recall the logo right off hand. 'metallic' can include a very wide range of effects, everything from a dull, pitted, black to a highly glossy chrome.

one thing you can try is to pull up the logo in photoshop and see what they're using. i dont use photoshop. i have paint shop pro 7x something, the full retail version. they have a nice little menu called 'effects' with a browser feature included that you can use to preview what a particular effect will look like before you change the actual picture. there are effects in there like 'foil' and 'glossy' and so on that will alter an image in lots of different ways. i'm sure photoshop prolly has something similar.

if you like, you can send me your image email along with the image or logo that you're trying to get it to look like and i can take a shot at it, but i'm not really a graphics art guy. i have played with psp for years though and have some idea of what it's capable of. starfire@apex.net if you want.

and just as an aside, when i read your post here, i called up a few .tga files out of we/mi and looked at them to see if i could enhance them in any way. i was somewhat surprised to see that CA seems to have purposely blurred several images. i removed the blur and was quite surprised at the amount of detail i could call up. i'm kind of curious why they did this this way. seemed to look better to me with adding the detail back in. i could even see one soldier's facial features after removing the blur, including his moustache. quite interesting.

u remember the Mongol Invasion logo, its just like if it is made from iron

i know how to make the iron look bold and grey but mettallic with light effects on it i cant reproduce
