I listed the options what i had could think of now
----------------------------------------
turnbased (fixed turns) without gamemaster
most suited for small groups 2 or perhaps 3 players cuz each turn will cost some time to plan moves and find each other online. A turn could easily take 1-3 days per side.
with such a small group u dont need a gamemaster
--------------------------------------------
turnbased (flexible turnorder) with(out) gamemaster
like the boardgame Samurai swords, each players plan their stuff and "gamble" with their income on what initiative they would like to have.
This allows a bigger group of players, each player sends his battleform to a passworded central place on the web or a gamemaster. the turns are processed (by teh gamemaster and/or a programm) and its outcome is posted. Each player can see what battles are up for the next days.
A complete turn including battling for all players will probably take 1 week.
-------------------------------------------
realtimebased (flexible turnorder) with(out) gamemaster
this is similar as teh one above, each turn takes a fix amount of time.
------------------------------------------
furthermore there is a decission to make about processing and posting about teh campaignturn. or its done (fully) webbased or its done by a programm on teh pc of each player or there is a small programm on each players pc to make the moves and stuff and a major programm with the gamemaster to process all players moves and so on.
also mapupdate should be made handy and clear. maps have to be updated and posted (or processed in any way) as soon as possible.
------------------------------------------
so i am still pounding on whats is best for TW M. we learned from former online campaigns that making it clanbased gives to much hassle. so for now i am thinking of a 2 sided campaign representing for example the crusades era. some players represent europe christianity and some moslims. perhaps a 3rd party could be the russians/mongols which could be hired by either side for a given turn.
so just some brainstorming, any more input?
