Besides all idiology what did politicians do that you think is very embarrassing?

Not really embarassing - since it was not his fault - but still incredibly grotesque:

John Prescott. A man who punches demonstrators in the face. I actually quite respect that but to be honest it is a bit embarrassing that in the event Tony Blair were to suddenly fall ill, the power to destroy the world would rest in the hands of such a man.

No, I just remembered the last election campaign. You know it was in the hot phase before the Iraq war. Schroeder was against the war, the opposition was, ~ , some how against it but we should support the Americans the best we could.
Maybe you remember that Mrs. Merkel, the opposition leader then and candidate for cancellor today, made a trip to the US to applogize for the German position. Treachery, I call it. Even worse than Hanoi Jane! Regardless what is your opinion about the war you should not do it. I do want her to be sentenced to death, though. I just will not give her my vote. ~;)

that sounds like Jean Chretien, the former Canadian Prime Minister

he has been known to choke/shove/otherwise manhandle demonstrators on several different occasions

Well, it was before my time, but I am told our late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau set out in a rowboat for Cuba wearing a turban. The Americans arrested him and deported him to back to Canada. Don Newlands the photographer is said to have a photo of it. He's one of our more illustrious leaders.

Jacques Chirac, for basicaly everything he did, does and will do.
Jean Pierre Raffarin (previous PM) for everything he did and said.
Marie George Buffet (Communist party leader) for basicaly all the things she said (she hasn't done anything except screwing up the European Treaty Referendum, because the communists are powerless, but still).

I agree with Al Kalifah about John Prescott. Just listening to some of his Question Time when TB isn't there just makes me cringe.

well politicans in Sweden are usually very embarrasing, due to the fact that they never show any muscle, they all a bounch of media suckups and weaklings. :furious3:

except our main commie guy, I might not agree with him on alot of things but atleast he is clear with that he stands for.

Internationally, Bush is just a big joke, I even have trubble watching him speak.

I have two others:

Helmut Kohl: When President Reagan came to visit Germany they wanted to honor the death soldiers of both sides. It was supposed to be a signal for peace. Unfortunatelly he chose a graveyard were dead SS soldiers were burried. :skull:

He also managed to compare Gorbatschow with Goebbels. ~

Ronald Reagan: He used to have regular speeches to the nation. At one of these he said that he had ordered a nuclear attack against the Soviet Union. In fact he wanted to make a joke - and hadn't noticed that he was on air :shame:

Ah yes, John Prescott, that great master of eloquence. Some of his greatest speeches:

I've already mentioned quite frankly there may be a 100, previously, then it was down to one yesterday, now it's no, not. And I think we should welcome that as a fact.

My position is that I want to make our position clear...the example of Germany is just one example, for example

I met that the Nigerian leader, er, the Nigerian leader, and he said that when he pulls the levers, nothing happens, so we need a better form of governess, a governess is something we ought to be talking about...

And if his amazing speaking ability wasn't enough, he gets on so well with the people of Britain:

Dick Durbin comparing American troops to nazis and communists on the floor of the US senate was very embarrassing. I bet Bin Laden was laughing his ass off after that one.. "Look at the silly Americans, we dont need to destroy them, they'll tear eachother apart".

Weve got an unusually high number of treasonous types in this country, especially the politicians of a certain party..

What an awfully communist thing to say. I seem to recall something similar was said about opposing political parties in the USSR, no?

:book:

Yep.

Have to agree with you, I find Dubya the greatest embarrassment of any U.S. politicians we've ever had. One of my favorites is from when he ran for governor. He shot a protected bird during dove season, then turned to the reporters with him to taunt them about not congratulating him on a good shot. To his embarassment one of the stunned reporters pointed out that he had just shot a non-legal bird. So much for showing how sincere his down home image really was... Couldn't help but think of Dukakis riding around in that tank.

Quayle was somewhat embarrassing, mainly amusing. I heard some comedian point out that we all used to wonder what would happen if Quayle had become president...now that Dubya is in office we know.

George Bush Jr : ...He is an embarassment for the Simian race.

Sylvio Belruskoni: He has embarassed the EU and Italy in more than one occasion, has caused 2 severe diplomatic episodes by just trying to be funny.

Giorgos Karatzaferis: Greek totally psycho racist anti-semitist radical left-wing AND right wing ( yes he is both...) , theocratic, self proclaimed 'savior'. Member of the European parliament...I hate to think what he says there.

In brief this guy combines radical left:

-Nationalise everything, ban multinationals(!) , discourage investment abroad and ban imports etc etc

...with radical right nazi fascist racist ideology:

-Deport all foreigners, somehow attack almost every bloody neighbouring nation, 'jews are the cause for everything bad' etc etc.

...he tops it up with A LOT of religious nonsence and has the support of the Archbishop for this:

-Greeks can only be Christians ( He really hates pagan greeks in particular), State and Church are the interconnected, Politicians are trying to make us atheists etc etc

Since he practically covers every ideological spectrum of idiocy, and since he is faithfully followed by hordes of 80 year old religious fanatic ladies ( Its really cool to see them destroying public property with crosses at hand ) who follow the church and him like sheep ( His party is names 'Popular ORTHODOX alarm' , he has managed to bet a 4% and enter the EU parliament and if the old ladies do not die fast enough he will be an MP in the local parliament next elections...

Definatelly an embarassment....

Teh Premier of Alberta is pretty embarassing. Let's where do I start. Hmmm...

1. Completely lacks any skill other then to give the uberconservatives of this province a hard-on by oppsing gay marriage with every fiber of his body as if they were gonna steel his food.

2. Complete disregard of manners, he even walked in front of the queen while she was visiting here. I don't think she's coming back.

3. Is an alcoholic and get's into trouble for it all the time.

4. A year before he got elected he used to drink with the homeless people on the steps of a homeless shelter.

Need I go on?

omg marcellus, more quotes please! They are even funnier than bushisms, especially the first one, omg. Who is this guy anyways?

John Prescott is our - wait for it - Deputy Prime Minister! So if Tony Blair falls ill and no longer feels up to running the country for a bit, Prescott becomes a leader. It scares me. A lot.

As for more quotes, here's a few more:

The Green Belt is a Labour policy and we intend to build on it

It's great to be back on the terra cotta

It's true, they made a savage attack in words, and language

macho man, moi?

John Prescott: I don't know who Lord Hunt is, he's obviously a minister of government...

John Humphrys: He's a minister of health.

JP: Yes, I had to Look him up.

JH: He's been in the job for four years!

JP: Yes, that may be so - [mock apologetic voice] - sorry for my ignorance, John.

So I think the basic point is that it is necessary in order to have private capital in our industries to get the extra resources that we do want that you have to be privatised is not borne out by the facts, in other countries, and neither we should have it here also and if he's any doubts about that go and have a look at the reports that talk it.

That should do for now. ~:)

To be fair, I'm going to try to pick one from each party.

Republican:
This piece of human exrement...

Mr. Family Values here decided to serve divorce papers on his wife while she was laid up in hospital after having a cancerous tumor removed.

Democrat:

Hmmm, there's a long list, but I have to go with this guy...
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/tharris00/rotator.jpg
Here he is trying to score a few phone numbers. Forget Chappaquidick, my favorite part of the William Kennedy Smith rape trial was somebody testifying "and there was Ted, standing at the bar with no pants on. He had taken them off to relax during the after hours party and couldn't find them when the police arrived".

For my non-US friends, the Republican winner was Newt Gingrich & the Democrat was Ted Kennedy.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present Boris Johnson MP:

http://www.nigelhaversalliance.com/pics/boris8.jpeg

I love this guy. I hate his policies (he's a right-wing Tory), but he's very funny to watch (although I do believe it's unintentional).

Some wise words from him:

What's my view on drugs? I've forgotten my view on drugs.

Dark forces dragged me away from the keyboard, swirling forces of irresistible intensity and power.

The Lib Dems are not just empty. They are a void within a vacuum surrounded by a vast inanition.

My chances of being PM are about as good as the chances of finding Elvis on Mars, or my being reincarnated as an olive.

The Tory Party - the funkiest, most jiving Party on Earth!

I don't see why people are so snooty about Channel 5. It has some respectable documentaries about the Second World War. It also devotes considerable airtime to investigations into lap dancing, and other related and vital subjects.

Look the point is ... er, what is the point? It is a tough job but somebody has got to do it.

An inverted pyramid of piffle!

I could not fail to disagree with you less.

You are a self-centred pompous twit - get out of public life
