next week I have the joy of flying for about 9 hours + the joy of airports for a further 6 or so hours.

How would you guys deal with that?

I'm tired of my usual: listen to music; watch inflight movie; read book; make small talk. Actually the last one was a lie, I've met some excellent people on flights.

Anyway, ideas for boredom relief please...

Borrow a Game Boy Advance from a friend, and take Advance Wars or Fire Emblem with you. Hours of merriment.

How can you get tired of reading books, though?

if you get a GBA try to get - as BKS said - advance wars ( 1 and 2 ) and try getting final fantasy tactics , also good.

And also try and get a book , the new Harry potter comes to mind here ( that is if you like the series ) or some other book.
you will regret not taking a book on a 9 hour airplane trip.

Get a laptop with a wireless modem and you can post and play MTW while you wait. ~;)

Bring a laptop, a bunch of games and transfer your save files to the laptop. It will be just like you never left home, except the food is worse, the chair less comfortable and the sound is via headphones!

Err...you can ask a lady friend to join you and then the both of you can attempt to join the mile high club...it ll keep boredom at bay ~;)

or if you are lucky like I was complain that the flight wasn't long enough as the Lord of the Rings Trilogy was playing on demand...

cheers people.

Big King, I am tired of reading: I just completed the core courses of a 4 year BSc in one year and am sick of reading, sick I tell you. I'll probably take a bunch of books with me anyway.

Dutch, Big King: I don't know anybody with a Game Boy of anysort ~:mecry:

Gawain, I have a laptop but do planes have power outlets (I have no idea personally)? If they do then MTW may keep me company.

Sjakihata: I'll have pillow provided I'm sure, I hope.

Uesugi Kenshin: true, sounds very like what I am now planning if I can get a power source sorted.

rasoforos: my girlfriend can't afford the trip and I don't think she'd appreciate me taking any admirers, excellent plan otherwise.

Beirut: 2 connecting flights, done it drunk before, bit of a hastle.

Papewaio: wish me luck.

Just for Laughs: Gags - the best comedy show of all-time and the best reality show of all-time - is shown during many flights in many countries

i recommend finding an airplane that airs that, and then get on board! if you have any sense of humor whatsoever, then that show is guaranteed to entertain you immensely

watched the whole band of brothers dvd series when I was in flight on my laptop. Time well spent. ~

Wazikashi:
was there anywhere to plug your computer in or do you have a supply of uber batteries?

As far as i know (an my parents both work for an airline) aircraft only have power outlets if your the pilot or you're in first class. Where are you going anyway, because it sounds almost exactly like my flight Gatwick-Atlanta-Salt Lake City in September

True...

Only in first class and Business class you have power outlets. But, I don't think you can connect to the Internet though. :embarassed:

If I go on a plane trip, I bring my laptop with me. Modding RTW or MTW while a long flight. It's great! ~D

I envie all who have a laptop, especially when I'm on my way to Tucson Arizona from Amsterdam...
Long trip, would be fun to play games or watch DVD's while flying.
Well once I start working myself I'll prob. buy a laptop, as a 15 year old I don't really have the money and the money I do have I'm saving for a scooter when I'm 16....

I raised money for my laptop for myself. But I started at about 8 years old, and when I got 13, I had some cash. My dad agreed that a laptop is a great idea, so he supplied the rest.

Oh well, no need to envy us. I'm gonna envy you because you're gonna get a scooter earlier than me!!!!

Sjakihata

dont buy a scooter. wait till you're 18, get a drivers liscense and buy a car instead, really!

well I've been thinking of that , but I'm sick of cycling 2 and a half hours just to get to school and home again.
I've been doing that for 3 years and can't wait to stop doing that, in stead of continuing to bike to school for another 3 years which it would take to finish school and turn 18 I would rather have a scooter or some other sort of motorised vehicle.

I did this trip business class last time, before I considered playing games on my laptop.
This time I'm in economy class ~:mecry:
