What affects how many soldiers the golden horde comes in with? Is it only the difficulty that is counted or are the number of existing soldiers in the invaded territories considered too, like with faction reimurgances and rebellions? :book:

Amount of troops in the area factors in, I've seen larger Hordes when I have more troops in the general vicinity of Turkey, not only in Khazar, though it seems that a large amount of troops actually staying in Khazar is the main trigger for a good Horde. However, large egyptian, turkish and byzantine stacks standing around waiting for each other in Turkey and it's surroundings seems to lure more mongols to the party.

Haven't noticed the difficulty level affect the Horde, though it was a long time since I played on Hard or lower.

You can thus play a game with the GH by putting massive peasant stacks in all the emergence provence. You can see if you can get them to knock out all the Europe. That'd be a fun thing to engineer since they usually stop by HRE or Poland.

Hmmm, I've never had them get a good hold of any territory past Russia, and yes I have played Western European factions and not just Eastern factions. Maybe I should play England again and see what happens....
