Just a thought/question. About the time frame. Surely Ceasar and those Romans didnt' use the year BC and AD in their time ? Can the time be mod so that it reflects the years that the Romans use at the period ? Don't have to use other faction time anyway since it's ROME : total war.

Just a though though. Anyway for historians out there ? Do Roman at that period have their own Year count ?

Sorry if anyone didn't understand my question.

Well, you can pretty much start the game at any year you want, and you can mod the BC/AD in text\shared.txt, so you can simulate any numerical dating system.

You can try asking over at the Monastery for details of the Roman calendar.

Yup. Thanks. I know how to change the text. Just never know how they 'count' years during the time. I know they have names for month, but not years. Maybe the 'concept' haven't been realized yet.

Anyway, just another question. If I only change the text (and drop out the BC/AD era wouldn't some 'event's which is set to happen at certain date will not trigger ? Like the eruption of mount something..

Well, to my knowledge, Romans referred to previous times as "during the rule of.." and then the name of the ruler at the time (post-republic), or "xx years after.." and then a historical event (a flood, earthquake, vulcano eruption, famine -famines were also given names, by the way - , a battle, good harvest, bad harvest).

The "real" AD/BC of the Roman civilisation was "xx years before the foundation of the city" (the city being Rome, obviously) and "xx years after the foundation of the city". I'm not sure wether these were terms used by the Roman (common) public though, or merely a more cermonial way of keeping track of time.
