View Full Version : What do you do to stay fit?

What does everybody here do to stay fit? Just curious because I do quite a bit right now (slo-pitch, squash, weights, running on both road and treadmill, skiing and just tried yoga last week for the first time), but I’m always interested in other ideas. I think my poll has listed most conventional options, but if you have to tick “Other” please specify in a reply post.

I'm guessing you're under 30?

I play soccer once or twice a week, do occasional weight training, and attempt to wear out my Siberian Husky puppy on a daily basis.

Shouldn't this be in the Frontroom?

I've never had any weight problems either. I have coached my daughter's
soccer, basketball and softball teams since she was 6 yrs (she is 14 now)
and that has helped my fitness alot. I also have played golf and have been
very active in sports my entire life. I played QB in High School football and
catcher in college baseball. Right now I am 6' 170lbs 40yrs old and hope to stay around that weight. I guess if I quit smoking I would be in much better shape :dizzy2: !

Yee-up.

Well, don't be surprised when it catches up with you. I was the same as you when I was in my twenties. But something magical seemed to happen around the time I turned thirty: I didn't start eating any more or excercising any less, but in the space of two years I went from a 33" waist to a 37" waist. Now I've finally managed to get myself back into good shape again, but it meant not being able to eat triple helpings any more and excercising at least 5 days a week.

So, for any of you younglings who believe you can keep scarfing back sliders and grease-wheels forever while maintaining your girlish figures, I have one word:

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

:devilish:

Dang!

Meant to put it there, sorry. I guess I am just a habitual Backroom poster.

Sad...

On topic: I am running in the woods 2-3 times a week for 1-1.5 hours (once a week with a former colleague - so apart from staying in shape I also get to hear the latest gossip from her ~D )

Tennis, tennis, tennis for me. I try to play an hour a day or more. Other than that, there isn't really anything I do to keep fit.

I usually run 2 miles every morning when I wake up. I go to the gym every day at lunch & do 15/20 mins on the cross-country machine to get the blood flowing. Then I hit the weights. You didn't actually list weights as an option, which is my other.

I try to exercise at least 2 hours a day, mainly involving weights, yoga exercises, some cardio and alot of sit ups and press ups( the latter being one of best and simple exercises anyone can do) . I'll do the weights one day then the cardio and non weight exercises the next.

I going to buy a pull up on monday after one of my drunken mates tore it off the wall and broke it. I owe hima dig for that ~D

I play a lot of sports.

My favourite is basketball, 3 training sessions a week, each 1 and 1/2 hours. Also, I learn tennis(still a rook) 2 hours per session, 2 times a week. And I go to the pool, 2 times a week, 1 and 1/2 hours, 1300m total. I'm waiting for my bike to arrive, so another sport routine coming up. ~D

My main keep fit activity is eating cheese, washed down with beer.

I would have to describe its results as poor.

I`m a couch potato mostly, I am such a lazy person that I don`t bother do anything without getting told to do so.

I work on a farm sometimes, go fishing in the mountains or go cycling. That`s actually plenty to keep me in shape. ~:handball: I was an active football player before though. :charge:

I dont exercise at all.. it seems like a waste of time to me as I dont have any appearance/weight issues. If I ever start putting on some pounds Ill probably run.

I like cycling, sometimes, if I´m in the mood, I train my muscles a bit and I like to walk at night. ~D Cycling at night is also nice. My mum is almost 50 and still very slim, so far I seem to be like her, though I´d like to have a few more muscles, I´m about 1,85m and weigh around 67kg.

I like walking and cycling, although it hasn't really done my fitness a great deal of good - I need to do more.

Swimming and Surfing in the Caymans, Hiking and Cycling when I'm at home in either Colorado or Montana.

On Another Note, if you want to get ripped quick try some deep sea fishing everyday for about 3 months. I used to be able to bench around 180-190 now I can bench about 240.

I've maintained the same weight for five years by walking and weight training. I eat so much junk food, if I actually ate a healthy diet I'd probably drop twenty kilos or more. Yuck, healthy food. Bleh.

Since you're an American, I don't expect you eating healthy food...... ~D

I've been playing ever since I was, I think, about 7 years old or something. Not quite sure about that. My memory on it is a bit fuzzy. :dizzy2:

Not much really, many push-ups every morning and evening, other exercises, I run once in a while, like long walks… I don’t need a gym. ~:)

I wonder if prayer is good for the stomach muscles. :shifty:

I cycle to work and back, about 20 minutes each way, and have just started playing squash again twice a week, sometimes a run on Sundays.
