Well then? vote for it!
and if you have anything more beautiful than the above posted, then post a pic and we can all stand in awe at the fact that Ian got something wrong!

BTW thanks goes to kagemusha for explaining how to work polls!
EDIT: This is only for the 20th century

The Spitfire, unquestionably-It's so gorgeous, I would sex it up and make little baby Spitfires. Work that Merlin/Griffon, baby!

Although there's not much to choose between them, I think the F-86 looks much better than the MiG.

Sports cars and fighter planes? Those things weren't designed to be beautiful, were they? The cars have big powerful engines and the planes blow shit up. That's their primary function.

The Spitfire might not have been designed to be beautiful, but it was.

I was tempted to go for the DB-9, but in the end I just had to go for the Spitfire.

Glad to see so many airplane fans here. :balloon2:

*Freaking photobucket.com is making all my shots small. This thing should be twice the size. :furious:

Where is the bridges, the magificant building built by man.

Planes and cars are okay - but give me something that lasts a lot longer then that.

i voted for the mustang (don't know why) but i love the great p-38 lighning, a great sturdy beauty.

The P-38 is amazing, you're right master of the puppets. The P-51 might have been better... but the P-38 took care of Yamamoto!

In terms of cars, either the Viper or Cobra for me. Sure, the Europeans have their own style, but I like the power shown in those cares myself.

Edit: I didn't see the girl on there before. How about Alizee? I never even heard of her until the Babe thread... but wow!

The Tiger I tank. A truly beautiful machine. Its just got something about it that makes me enjoy looking at pictures of it over and over. Ive modeled about 15 of them in different variations and plan to do some more.. I only do one or two versions of the other tanks before I get bored with them.

Shouldnt this poll be 'whats the most beautifull airplane/car ever made?'

There is a lot of things far more beautiful than killing machines or 'pick up silly girls' machines

Personally, what is most pleasing to my eye is an ancient greek marble made theatre, golden cut to the max :)

What's a poll without GAH!
or MEH!?

Ianofsmeg16

I knew i forgot something!!!
There are alot of things i left out of that poll, but be fair i did do it late at night after getting up early to marshal aircraft at the Manx airshow (thats right i got to wave my hands at airplanes, i felt in control) if i could edit the poll i would, i will do another one in a few days, once i get more clear results from this one so i can see what to include. Odds are the spitfire is gonna be included, mabye that huge ass iron bridge across the severn, cant remember the name and possibly some buildings, to make it more general.

I saw this Michelangelo sketch up close and personal at the National Gallery in Ottawa two weeks ago. I had my nose to the glass for twenty minutes looking at every line. It was... incredible. All other art is but mold and mildew compared to this and other works of its kind.

You people care more about cars and planes than women?! I am in shock! :dizzy2: ...

but I do like the Tiger I tank like Panzer posted, and the Hawker Hurricane from the RAF, and the Jaguar car model ~D

Some people should like what I consider the most beautiful thing mankind has ever created... ~;)

if i were to limit myself to objects (as opposed to people), the taj mahal comes to mind as a rather beautiful man-made thing. of planes, trains, and automobiles.. the spitfire is nice, but no machine really hits my "beauty" nerve. of art, i've always found sargent's paintings to be quite beautiful (esp this one http://www.jssgallery.org/Paintings/Lady_Agnew.htm).

and of course there is so much music that is beautiful. i couldn't begin to pick out one piece.. but just to name a few stand-outs off the top of my head:
-"l'amour est un oiseau rebelle" aka 'the habanera' from bizet's carmen
-the "polovstian dances" for borodin's prince igor
-chopin's nocturne in b-flat, op. 9 no. 1
-"el circulo magico" and "cancion del fuego fatuo" from de falla's el amor brujo (see sketches of spain by miles davis)
-debussy's arabesque no. 1 & "la cathedral engloutie"
-"in paradisum" & "agnus dei" from durufle's requiem
-"saturn" from holst's the planets (the ending is one of the hands-down most beautiful things in existence)
-"in trutina" from orff's carmina burana
-"romance" from prokofiev's lieutenant kije, also the last act from his romeo and juliet.. doesn't get much more beautiful than that.

i could go on for about an hour. ~;)

Language.

We can exchange and communicate "ideas" (which itself really is abstract) using phonetics and combination of symbols (eg. letters, movementsetc.) to form words, sentences and/or signals.

Geesh Quietus, getting a little deep here aren't we? I would agree... except for some of the bastardization that goes on. For example, 'aboot' and 'eh' polluting perfectly good American? And then there is the insertion a random 'u' here and there (valour, colour etc). Then there is whatever it is Australians speak. Almost American... but not quite (dodgy? blodgy?) Who came up with that? ~D

Thanks Big John. You're right, I do think the Taj Mahal is the most beautiful building ever. (But your painting link is broken.)

So the Americans don't spoil perfectly good English? ~D
If you keep voting for a day or two i'll make another poll with some more stuff on it e.g buildings, paintings and a couple more girls

http://www.maddogsbar.com/Beer_Glass.JPG

For the millions of humans it took to figure out how to plant, grow, harvest and process certain grains.

For the thousands of people it took to refine that process.

For the hundreds of people it took to invent glassware, refrigeration, and pastuerization.

For the dozens of people it took to make, package, transport, chill and serve this icy glass of beer to undeserving little me to drink and savor.

Certainly a wonder, and a most beautiful thing to me.

My vote would probably be a fine guitar. Either a Les Paul (suburst), or a nice ES (something) hollowbody, with either a burst, or natraul finish.

My guitar teacher has this Ibanez he picked up for a few hundred bucks, turns out it halts production in a year, and now its worth over 5k.

EWWW! We hates it! Get it off us! It burns us it does! It burns!

Sorry... that was lame. :embarassed:

Anyway, for me when it comes to alcohol, I like either the 'queer-beers' as my friends called them (Smirnoffs, Mike's Hard Lemonade etc.) or smooth liquers. Kind of expensive, but I still hate the taste of beer. Maybe it is good after a hot day of mowing the yard... but I'll take a nice glass of ice tea thansk.

Also like Whiskey, at first people say they love it, but have never tried it and when you hand it to them they cough and choke on the floor, while your there taking huge gulps out of it cos you've been having it since you were five ;)
