Ladies and Gentlemen, boy and girls, after a few unavoidable delays, we can tie a ribbon around this contest and call it complete.

The competition was intense, with praiseworthy entries from around the totalwar globe. Judging was difficult, but rewarding work.

In accordance with the stated contest judging rules

... judges will rate each submission and vote for the one they like best. each judge has 1/3 of the overall vote, combined they have 2/3. The other 1/3 is decided by a poll of Org voters. The two volunteers will revote/re-negotiate as they need to do assure a winner is chosen...

frogbeastegg chose Alexander the Pretty Good
KukriKhan also selected Alexander the Pretty Good
The Poll put forward Monk as the voters' choice.

So First Place is awarded to Alexander the Pretty Good,
and runner-up is awarded to Monk.

Congratulations to the winners, and a hearty "Well Done!" to all of the contestants.

Holy Easter Eggs, Batman! I didn't think I had a chance.

Thank you, frogbeastegg, KukriKhan, and everybody who participated in this!

And congradulations, Monk!

And thanks, LeftEyeNine, but I didn't come up with it myself - I'm not that clever. ~:) It is from a cartoon (bloody good one) on TV when I was maybe 10. It was called Histeria, and sorta parodied history. Very funny.

May be its too late to come here now. Well...

Congratulations for the winners ~:), Alexander the Pretty Good and Monk! Both your works are excellent!

The works of the contestants are really of high quality. I wasn't here to participate (well...kinda forgot that the current capital of Italy even exists when I was hell-bent on becoming the Nerevarine and slaughter the Hands of Almalexia before going on to establish an Imperial mining colony in some cold, forsaken island...some of you know what game I'm talking about ~D) and I wouldn't win anyway, considering my considerably limited talent (what an arrogant snob I am... ~D)

Anyway, that the contest finally sets up effectively surprises and pleases me as the .org is more than just a TW fansite as it can also be considered (in some ways) a sort of cyber mini-community in the internet brought together by common interest in the Total-War game franchise, and the contest helps in that regard.

I can see that each writers have their own techniques of approaching their respective stories and some clearly stands out as more "professional" pieces. Even if I participate I would not be one of them. You can try and read, say, Harry Potter (the sixth one is better throughout than the gloomy fifth, even though the ending is killing me...grr...how evil...), and try to examine how professional writers like J.K. Rowling set up their styles of writing in the ways that allow the reader to go through the entire story with absolutely no structural qualms. Similar "smoothness" can be, arguably, found in some especially spectacular pieces in the contest.

For those who didn't win, well, there is always next time. And time (for the young like me, Mwahaha) brings lots of opportunities of improvements or better lucks for all ~D

Not at all, Ian. I wasn't kidding when I wrote that the competition was intense. The content provided by all 29 amatuer Org writers was obviously submitted after tons of quite good effort by everyone. It was a pleasure to read through them all. I would proudly stack our contest entries up against similar contests I've seen on the 'net.

The vote count (35 total) is more an indication of the contest being held during the 'slow' month of August...lots of folks on holiday, we're in-between game release dates, etc.

Thanks Kurikhan!
Did everybody read everyone else's? i know i read most of them, but by the time i decided to read it all i went to sleep....somebody should do a review of the stories, then people will know how good there stories were/what needs to be improved and how....any volunteers?

As Kukri said, 29 entries and a very intense competition. Choosing a winner, even choosing a narrowed down list for first and second place, was no easy task.

Well done to all who entered.

he's back in power! ~D

The contest thread has been unstuck and will go the way of all threads in the Mead Hall, it will slowly drift to the back of the room. This thread will remain stuck a few more days, after which it shall be unstuck and closed.

The Library will be updated in two days time to include the links to the second contest, The results thread (this one) and the newer stories that appeared while the Contest was running. Business will slowly return to normal around here.

One last, big THANKS to all who entered or gave prizes. I never imagined we'd get this sort of turn out and all the entries were creative and nicely done. It was a pleasure competing in such a contest. To the judges, thanks for stepping in and helping out so I could enter. Dimeolas and Kukri, thank you both for allowing prizes to be given out.

Allow me to add my belated congratulations to Alexander the Pretty Good and Monk for their success in this contest. I truly enjoyed both stories (and actually voted for Monk's).

Also thanks to the Judges who took the time to read these stories and to the Guild for sponsoring the contest.
