View Full Version : Can someone please help poor dial-up user to finish his BI demo download?
To cut story short, I downloaded 60% of BI, and it took me two nights. Now, my download got "broken" so I need to start again from scratch, which would take my next 4 days.
I can't stand that. ~
Is there any kind person that could host partial demo with only files that are missing to me.
Please, I'm desperate.
Check tumbnail in this thread at totalrom for files I already have (I need the rest):

Update:
With files I have and copied Miles folder and mss32.dll from original game, I successfully started the demo, and got ejected after I tried strating the battles.
I guess, exempt those files I copied from original that VoiceX.dat and VoiceX.idx files are missing (switch X for 1, 2 or 3). Tried using those from original, but didn't helped.
Can anyone confirm that?
Are these the only files I'm missing?
Or there are some other too?
UPDATE2:
I succeeded in running the demo by adding voice files from original, plus vegetaion foler.
Still, it's not perfect.
In tutorial battle advisor refers to gauls and senate, while in other battles some voices are missing (like from hun soliders).
So my request still stands.
But, at least I have playbale demo.
Ok, I know not everyone would host several files just because of post from one user.
But still, I think everyone who has complete demo could check their files and see what files exactly I'm missing (comparing to the list of files I have, that is posted in the link in the first post).
It isn't that much difficult (can be done by anyone who has demo).
And would make my life easyer too, since I would know exactly what I'm looking for.
Please? :help: :help: :help:
Doesn't your downloader program pick up from where it left off?
Something got messed up.
Since it was acclerated download with two sorces, DM can't fantom from my backup file (220MB) what is downloaded and what is not.
Anyway, taking remaining files manualy, or going from scratch is the only way now.

Hi Player1 - sorry, I'd love to help, but I'm also a poor 56kbs modem user! Now this post may not help you at all, but... oh, sorry - there is no 'but'! I just hope someone else with speedy access and somewhere to host it will take pity on you mate! Good luck!
