View Full Version : Is there a way to make playing the mongols challenging

Barocca's campaigns were a lot of fun playing the japanese clans, is there a way to mod the mongols ? it would be nice to try to optimize use of the mongol troops. They have a different style of fighting, with the short-range deadly ranges units (skirmishers, bombers) and fast cavalry. Trouble is, it's way too easy. So can we modify landing sites, maybe choosing type of forces landing each summer, maybe even placing starting mongol troops in mainland Japan (say around Wakasa) and working from there ?

As it is, the only way to make it a challenge is to upgrade the Japanese troops. But that would make a single direction game, from Kyushu eastward. The battles could be made to be diffiult I guess, but still it's just plowing away battle after battle, no maneuvering in the strategic map. In contrast, playing Takeda in Barocca's JDD SE was about balancing troop allocation to deal with simultaneous threats from all around, and working fast enough to give the mongols a steel welcome.

Anyone have an idea ?

The mongol landing and reinforcements seems to be hardcoded in the game. An external txt file would be very welcome.

No, it seems not possible to edit the mongols.
