man I wanna see some screenshots of like the biggest battle you have had, I mean BIG, like the whole screen is crowded with nothing but soldiers killing each other, i WANT BIG, HUGE, HUMOUNGOUS, ENORMOUS, GIGANTIC, GIANT, EXTRA BIG, XXXXXXL

This is from my famous English campaign... I started off as the welsh to emulate King Arthur kicked the Saxons out of England. I had just conquerred middle england and southern england and I felt that the conquest of Ireland would be more profitable for the future than the conquest of Britain, so I sent an ambitious prince over with my elite armoured celtic infantry and some valour 3 horsemen and engaged in a glorious war of liberation, turning a once batterred anarchic island into a unified civilised force.
This was the first battle near Dublin and I killed off most of the Irish forces here, but this was only the start of 10 years of notoriously savage killing as the Irish re-emerged twice in several provinces with several stacks of peasants in each.

I have loads of saved battles. I save them whenever I have done something epic or something spectacular. Let me whip up another one...
I was wiping out the last of the mongol hoarde in Bulgaria.
Believe it or not I won and this scene shows the clinch point, where I locally flanked half of the mongol heavy cavalry by devastatingly frontal charging them with 2 of my jedi prince's Katapraktoi and flanking with some elite steppe hardenned Pronoiai Allagion. They continued to locally flank the other units down the line like Alexander the great did to the Persians.

There was one REALLY huge battle I fought with the Egyptians against the French who pwn3d almost 2/3 of the map. I was playing on Expert difficulty.
I don't have pics of the fighting itself, but I have screenies from the start, and end of the battle as well as the field dotted with bodies.
1: "Umm, sir, it looks like we're outnumbered 10-1 here, shouldn't we withdraw to Egypt?"

3: We did quite well for the day, didn't we, chaps?
(Note the two units of Nizaris that killed and captured over 1000 men each and the unit of Bedouin Camels that killed and captured over 800. Quite a good cost-to-kills ratio for a unit of 40 peasants riding camels.)

There can be only 16 units on the field at a time, and the stupid French brought 5 mangonels with them that were facing the wrong way throughout the battle. I didn't touch the mangonels so they would just stand there. So in fact I had 16 units fighting 11 at a time, which helped.
Moreover, it was in Cyrenacia with a sand storm. Any unit with the slightest armour was absolutely useless. Even my Saracen Infantry and Ghulam Bodyguards, not to mention Khwarazmians, were quite handicapped. But the worst off were the French Chivalric units, halderdiers and royal knights which got totally owned by Camels, Saharan Cavalry, Nizaris and even Urban Militia.
I think it took me about 4 - 5 hours to play that one, but it put a permanent dent in the French empire, because I executed all their prisoners, so they ended up losing about 14 stacks of troops in one battle ~:eek:

hehe I remember him after that battle. Walking down stairs, Hawaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaah, was the sigh he made after his 5 hour slugfest. He put my biggest battle to shame I'd done a couple of night's before:-

I thought I had done them in, especially when I executed all the prisoners. But no, they came back 5 year's later with another 14,000 strong army! ~:handball:

The Horde often turns up with 27,000 men in my games. Last time I did it I had a fortress waiting for them, with 15 Varangians and a 14-valour 8-star Demon Prince.

Well this is my biggest battle so far. My 1300 Danish defending against 8000 Byzantinian. I was just trying to kill as many as possible since I didn't have a place to retreat to, but managed to kill or capture 6500 and only lost about 500 men. Only real bad thing was my 6 star general was killed in the battle. He was in alot of the heavy fighting, but I think was killed by a couple of groups of arbalestor as far as I could tell.

Aye, I remember that. They kept all the survivors and didn't merge them with any others, got sent to the four corners of the empire to carry tales of victory and glory. A classic. Maybe we can find it or get them to post it again. ~:cheers:
How do you take screen shots (I'm too lazy to search)?.
I've just finished the Horde in one main battle - they came with 13000 only though and met 4000 of my Hungarians in Khazar. Sitting in a forest for 4 hours. 6800 enemy casualties.
Their key weakness was turning up with 3 artillery pieces that sat unused and out of range for the entire performance so I was always outnumbering them on the field. And their king turns and runs at the first opportunity.
Second turn after this stupendous victory my king dies of an illness. Next turn, so does his (one and only) heir.
Game over. Great.
So, make sure you have lots of anti cavalry troops sitting in an otherwise undeveloped Khazar at 1229.
At the start of the battle, immediately move all the troops to the edge of the map, away from the artillery and in a big wood. Arrows can't penetrate and the cavalry gets decimated.
Don't plan anything else in the next 4 hours.

How do you take screen shots (I'm too lazy to search)?.
Press F2. They are stored in TGA's folder.

TGA is a file format for graphics files (Truevision Advanced Raster Graphics Adapter). To view a TGA, you can use a commercial program like PaintShop Pro, or download a freeware viewer like irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/).

The Great Khazarian War screenies are at the bottom of page eight. And they're probably the sweetest game-related thing I've seen in a while. The screenie on the bottom of page seven is awesome too, don't think I've seen so many dead... sprites gathered in one place at a time.
The bad thing is, both pages make my "glorious" victory over the Aragonese today look lame. ~D

heh, its been a full year and I still remember that batte vividly. It was the highlight of my campaign and to this date the funnest/longest/most interesting battle i've had in the TW universe. I remember sitting for 6 hours straight, thinking "this has got to be done soon" but no change, they just kept coming in wave after wave... Eventually i had to take breaks for food and sleep. Thank god for the pause button!

Don't let those siege weapons fool you. I made a raid early on and took them out, giving the mongols equal tactical strength. They were firing on my troops in the only tree line large enough to protect them from the mongol cavalry so i had to kill them. However as their crews left... around 7 MHC units appeared and slaughtered my cavalry forces easily. Leaving me with only inf on the field (and no cavalry in que).

Sorry but those are the only screens i still have of that battle, and i don't imagine i could sit through another ~:joker: . Here's a tip on horde numbers though. I've read many posts that say the more troops you have in Khazar at their appearance date, the more troops they come with. So if you stack the province with as many troops as you can spare (as i did with 13k) they will come with a hell of a lot of men than if you did with, say 3k. Try it out and see if it works for you. :book:

I wish I did, because just thinking about it is really making me nostalgic for mtw. Though the replay was so long to watch it(and make screenies) took an entire day. ITs been a year and i have since uninstalled mtw.. maybe i should give it another go..
