Hello, I'm a planet of the ape's fan, i was just wondering if it is possible to mod some stuff...here is a list of questions/idea's for the mod, input and/or help with the mod would be appreciated. NOTE: this will be a Shogun: Total War mod, not Medievil: Total
War.

-Is it possible to give Cavalry Archers Musket's? And to change the animation so it looks like they are firing a gun?
-I've never done anything remotely close to modding, was wondering if any kind soul would be interested in possibly making it, or giving me a lot of help with it?
- This mod woud be in a historical battle format.
- I will make the map, if anyone wants to make the mod.
- Not all units will be used, but here is a list of Units that can be used and their names.

Ape Army is as follows:
Cavalry Archers - Ape Rifle Cavalry
Heavy Cavalry - Ape Cavalry
Musketeers - Ape Riflemen
Warrior Monks - Ape Infantry
Kensai - Dr. Zaius (just kidding http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif but maybe?)
Naginata - Ape Sergeants (ala M:TW, hehe)

Human Army is as follows:
No-Dachi Samurai - Human Infantry
Samurai Archers - Human Bow men
Yari Samurai - Human Spearmen
Naginata Cavalrymen - Human Cavalry

I want this mod to have this sort of effect:
-Have the human army have many more men than the ape army
-the human army to have alot of low tech, low honour men
-the ape army to have les men, technologically advanced (with muskets) and have higher honour

Well, if anyone is interested in making it, helping with it, or helping me out (i will definetily need lotsa help), or answering my questions, plese Reply

Thanks,
Jerry "Dr.Zaius" Garcia

Glad you guys want it....i am most definetily not a modder, but if some one can tell me if it is possible to make own set of stats, wth names of units changed, and give those cav arch guns then i will have great fun with it, and when jerry has fun, he writes good songs.

I'm glad this is for STW it will be a heck of a lot easier.
MTW does things completely differently, and thus is harder to mod at the level you need.

Yes, and Yes, although Mongol Cav Archers would be easier again, they are already brown in colour and have less frame action sets to edit
(a frame action 'set' consists of 12 Layered Images in a bif file depicting a single action - running, fighting etc.)
Changing their projectile type to gun is a stats modification, easy to do!

Although I can point you at documentation, my time is severely limited.
I can help with clues, the editing is fairly simply - rotflmao - i look at it now as simple, but 3 months ago i was totally bamboozled by it,
Trust me it is easy to learn!

- This mod woud be in a historical battle format.

Actually you would be editing units and stats, so any battles played by a person with your mod would be in this format, with 2 or more players with this mod installed you could have online battles in this format!

- I will make the map, if anyone wants to make the mod.

I have never had a fiddle to see if the campmap could be changed or altered, I asume you mean you will make some battle maps?

- Not all units will be used, but here is a list of Units that can be used and their names.

Ape Army is as follows:
Cavalry Archers - Ape Rifle Cavalry
Heavy Cavalry - Ape Cavalry
Musketeers - Ape Riflemen
Warrior Monks - Ape Infantry
Kensai - Dr. Zaius (just kidding http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif but maybe?)
Naginata - Ape Sergeants (ala M:TW, hehe)

Human Army is as follows:
No-Dachi Samurai - Human Infantry
Samurai Archers - Human Bow men
Yari Samurai - Human Spearmen
Naginata Cavalrymen - Human Cavalry

Do you have Mongol Invasions or Warlords Edition?
If you do you could simply edit only the Mongol Units to create your Ape Army!

and archers can be given guns instead!
(as could skirmishers - but then you'd have a little more bif editing to get the correct actions)
Musketeers and arquies use 2 sets of bif files to represent acions and reloading, thus they are extremely hard to edit succesfully! All other units use ONE bif file each for actions and weapons, although you can 'disbale' the weapon text control file if you wish your unit to come equipped with it's own weapon!

I want this mod to have this sort of effect:
-Have the human army have many more men than the ape army
-the human army to have alot of low tech, low honour men
-the ape army to have les men, technologically advanced (with muskets) and have higher honour

All these are controlled by the stats files!
Easy to do!

Well, if anyone is interested in making it, helping with it, or helping me out (i will definetily need lotsa help), or answering my questions, plese Reply

For a Primer before you Begin!!! http://doragon.barocca.web1000.com/shogun/archive/editfull.zip

a copy of the online bif editing guide and a copy of my notes! best is print it, copy to word or similar, and read while you edit...

ALSO
I will see what i can find about editing the stats files for you,

btw Quote Medievil[/QUOTE]
deliberate?
love it, for unit editing Medievil it definately is!
So much has been changed I would not have been able to do the naginata patch under the new system!
