RTR is good my friend. I have a new found love for RTW. With RTR and the CC Music Mod, life is good.
But it may soon be better.
While attempting to avoid a comparison (after all, there are some dual members!), I would just like to point out the sheer vastness of the EB rework. Nothing has been left untouched.
Let's see.

Well, that is fine, join the poll and have your say my friend!
Well RTR was a boring peice of garbage  .
But hopefully EB will be a realism mod that is actually fun.
Sure their features sound good but that means absolutly nothing if the mod isn't fun.

Does it support mod function? Will I have to make a separate install or will -mod:"mymode" will be supported?
If it's a separate install, too bad, forget it.

Why is Option 10 "Awaiting your first born child"? Don't you think that one deserves to be one of the lower options? Anyway, I think Option 10 should be "Waiting for the walls to crumble so you can run inside and slaughter the inhabitants of the city." :charge:

That's because for many people, your first born child is a life event to be cherised beyond measure!
Of course, this comes from a small margin of society that does not pump out screaming dirth babies just for money, but that it not a tpoic for the collosseum...

Ley me guess....you played the beta version of RTR(face it, anything before 5.2 is more or less a beta) And because you didn't like it you now think that EB will also be bad...
Maybe it's the same reason that i know that i will not like vanilla BI :help:

Like the 'what other games do you play' thread, this one also is in the wrong forum. EB is a mod

From now on, I shall advert every poll I make by starting a new thread in the Colosseum. :inquisitive:

I hate realism mods.
Why ?
Do you want the Gauls to have an atomic bobs or some thing like that ? Or maybe the "Iberians" to have space crafts ? ~;)

I never played ANY version of RTR. All I had to do was read about it to realize that I would hate it. EB is the same deal. But to be sure I tried MM, man does that suck. I mean in some provinces you can't even build dirt roads, WTF is that. Plus I like all the ahistoric units like Roman warhounds, Arcanii, legionary cavalry, Druids, etc. And it's why I will like BI priest units.

Yes.

TW tradition stands on route of historic basis not on RPG fantasy. CA had sacrificed and lost their core element of success which belongs brand of TW series for greater gamer audience.
Accurate harmony of historic elements and serious strategic gameplay... EB project promises us that proven formula again. I believe those fellas with full of my heart. My best wishes and kind regards with them.

No matter how good the modding community, Eb is still a mod of Rome total war, and that, is it's flaw.

Eh? what point are you trying to make?
Perhaps that EB is what RTW should`ve been in first place. Or that it`s 'just' a mod. Whatever.

How old are you ?
How old are you ?
As of July 16th (my birthday), 24. Which means I'm old enough to know that RTW is a game and that CA made a concerted effort to move away from the hardcore strategy game niche that painted themselfs into. I can accept the compromises to histroical accuracy so long as they make for a better game. Which 80-90% of the them do. I also prefer RTW to all the other TW games (and I played STW when a friend lent in to me a few months after it came out, and I bought MTW as soon as it came out) because of the vastly improved battles. The fancy 3d graphics are ok but the much better battles are worth the price of admission alone.

I think that that's slightly close minded. It's kinda like the Romans thinking barbarians were stupid and smelly. Realism doesn't equal good just as barbarian doesn't equal stupid(I don't know about the smelly). I've always thought that realism is good, but tastefully implemented gameplay compromises make the realism better and more bearable in some cases.
Seriously, HTW drove me insane. Marching turtle-speed hoplites half way across the map to engage equally turtle-speed hoplites to get about 2 minutes of fighting after 15 minutes of moving is BORING. You cant' say you like to watch walking for 15 minutes.
Sweet Jebus that game was slow. Especially sieges since the castles were huge(good) but your units were slow(!@%!@#% bad).
There's are very distinct boundaries between fantasy, real, and TOOOOOO real.
I'm sure BI's Death Dealing Donkey Drawn Dungcarts of Doom and Damnation will be a laugh.

hee, in those days EVERYONE was smelly, not just the barbarians. I mean, the Romans commonly bathed only once a week or less! So.
Anyway. Here's pressure to support EB from a [new] team member! EB! EB! EB!

Any idea or news as to a possible release date... like in Sept., Oct, or beyond.

My guess would be when/it's/done ~D
Joking aside, i think that it should be released soon. :balloon2:
I think that they are just working on the buildings and traits ATM.

I wish some of you folks would be willing to express a stong opinion now and then.... ~;)
I haven't played RTW 24-7-312 (or whatever), but the only thring that struck me as being bad for gaming was the the cavalry was a bit too uber. That aside, it was a blast, but only quasi-historical. I mean, 3 factions which each produced "the first man in rome"... but in different centuries sharing the same start time? Egyptian chariot armies led by a Ptolemy? I still enjoy it though.
Lars did have a point. I wouldn't go quite as far as a unit of "atomic bobs" -- and please, NOBODY show us a skin of what that would look like -- but it is a game.
However, being a history addict, I suspect I will revel in the end results of the EB team's efforts. All said and done, I really am in that hardcore pigeonhole who would like to try to face down Rome with only the tools the Gauls really had -- but that's a very different game.
