EA Games - a force of hideous unadulterated evil, destroying gaming one company at a time, or a force for good in the gaming world? I personally think that by buying up all these small companies, and trying to release games as soon as possible, EA are just ruining gaming as we know it.

Was the burgers better when there were thousands of individually local burger stores? Or are they better now when McDonald own the entire (almost) burger market?
At least, in the first case each person could find something that he liked. I think this is quite accurate on whats happening at the gaming market.
To be honest and in my opinion EA Games are pretty decent. I agree there are some very bad titles out there but a lot of their games I have bought recently are very good.

Well , EA games are good, however their tech support is the worst out there...
I stumbeld upon this quote , quite amusing , when I was searching for help with an EA game - the game still doesn't work :dizzy2:
This is the last EA game I ever purchase. Of the 4 EA games i own, only one installed without earth, mars, and jupiter having to be alligned.

They mostly produce titles I'm not interested in, sports games and movie licenses.
Maybe it's true that they ruined Westwood, but I think the potential of that one gaming campany has been hugely overrated. Now valve has signed a deal with them, but I've considered them lost to the dark side since Steam (I still refuse to play half Life 2).

Going off-topic: I don't know which country you are from, Sjakihata, but I remember thinking McDonald's was like a breath of fresh air when it first arrived in the UK in my youth. I still recall with a shudder the grey, limp, greasy, tasteless excuses for burgers that Wimpy used to serve up in Hull. I remember relishing in the taste of McDonald's burgers - which actually tasted like beef - for a few short years before I became a veggie. 20+ years later, they have introduced a delicious quorn burger with an excellent chilli sauce so I can relive the pleasures of my youth without guilt.
As for EA games, I can't say I know much about them. Battle for Middle Earth was a pretty well put together game, although not really my cup of tea.
I like a lot of EA's sports titles such as Madden, FIFA, and NBA Live titles. Very good gameplay. ~

In my last post I talked/quoted about that game that just wouldn't install, well that's BFME.
I really don't like the EA tech. support, really useless imo, well all I can say is that I hope that some day I'll get BFME to actually work

Apart from Need for Speed and NBA, the rest completely sucks.
EA is really doing a bad job lately.
in my view EA Games is hellspawn and i've been boycotting them ever since they abandoned (whilst it was still bug-ridden and unfinished) the best RTS game of all time, Emperor: Battle for Dune
God, I loved Emperor. Many an hour of pure bliss spent on that game.

I'm sorry to hear of your problems. I bought it when it came out but then found out it was a DVD and I only had a CD-ROM drive. I waited several months before finally giving in and installing a DVD drive so I could play it.
It has lavish production values - the film cast's voices, amazing graphics, solid RTS gameplay - but ultimately was very unsatisfying for me. It's incredibly hectic so you don't get the time to enjoy the great atmosphere, graphics, tactics etc. Think RTW battles at x10 speed and you're about there. Plus it has gamey aspects like you have to build weak units and sacrifice them in order to get good ones, and once you have fully upgraded units you definitely don't want to lose them in the campaign - so if you are weak willed, the campaign becomes an exercise in frustration, trying not to lose a unit.
Still, I hope you get it to work eventually (maybe a new computer?) - some of the set-pieces (esp. Helm's Deep, Osgiligarth, Minas Tirith) are very close to the films and rather epic.

Well I haven't given up yet, however it seems to be corrupt CD's - not neccesarily my PC.
The bad thing is that the 90 day warrenty has long since expired.
But anyway , still trying to get it installed ~:) eventually I'll get lucky
